This book is going to kz4ufo as a surprise. She liked Idylls of the KIng, so perhaps this will be her style, too. She sent me some fantastic return address labels and bookmarks out of the blue.

Oh goodness!
Was my mailbox filled today
with surprises from hootnoodle!
I am on cloud nine ~
Thank you so much!

I must admit that I have never
read this Classic tale.
I just never found a copy ~
so now I have no excuses!
I do really love this sort of tale.

I look forward to reading
this in the next week or so!
Thank you so much
for thinking of me, hootnoodle!

After reading the Introduction and scratching me head...
I was determined to get through this medieval tale.

Quite frankly, some of the 'themes' went
under~appreciated (sounds better than over my head, doesn't it? HAHA).
Yet, after I read it for fun and not so literally,
(I wasn't going to be tested on it after all!)
I began to enjoy it.

There is an old English ditty about a
a "Barefooted Friar" that gave me a chuckle
(and evoked some strange images in my head!).
I also enjoyed the jester character Wamba,
and of course, the 'accused' witch Rebecca.

An interesting read if you enjoy the time period and setting and have the patience to sit, read, and enjoy this medieval tale.

Thank you again for sending it my, hootnoodle!

Received today from kz4ufo (along with Idylls of the King ;) -- it's something I'd been planning to read for quite some time but just never got to. Now I shall (and my husband wants to read it, too). BookCrossing is getting me to finally read some of the books that have been on my list forever... thanks, kz4ufo and hootnoodle!!
