From the publisher's description:
"Fever Crumb is a girl who has been adopted and raised by Dr. Crumb, a member of the Order of Engineers, where she serves as apprentice. Soon though, she must say good-bye to Dr. Crumb--nearly the only person she's ever known--to assist archeologist Kit Solent on a top-secret project.
As her work begins, Fever is plagued by memories that are not her own, and Kit seems to have a particular interest in finding out what they are. Fever has also been singled out by city dwellers, who declare that she is part Scriven. The Scriveners, not human, ruled the city some years ago but were hunted down and killed in a victorious uprising by the people. If there are any remaining Scriven, they are too be eliminated. All Fever knows is what she's been told: that she is an orphan. Is Fever a Scriven? Whose memories does she hold? Haunting, arresting, and astonishingly original, Fever Crumb will delight and surprise readers at every fast-paced, breathless turn."

This young-adult novel was chosen for a steampunk book club run by our local independent bookstore. Reeve's novel, set in post-apocalyptic England, is fast-paced and features a terrific main character, teenager Fever Crumb, who was raised by the Order of Engineers to revere logic and reason above all. My 12-year-old daughter also enjoyed this novel. Reeve is very imaginative; the place names and expressions in this futuristic England are hilarious.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

I've put this into a bookbox bound for Calgary. It's wrapped up and identified by only the first sentence, "That morning they were making paper boys." I hope the Calgary BookCrosser who unwraps this book will enjoy it!

Mount TBR is teetering....

This is a special book, as it was wrapped when I chose it from the Waterloo book box all wrapped up pretty and showing the first sentence.

How could I not choose it? Thank you all for the great selection of books and all the little goodies you tucked inside. We will be sharing all the books within our circle.

Terffic littly YA book. Of course I was captured by the first sentance on the wrapped book "That morning they were making paper boys." I started reading and pretty much devoured it in one sitting.

I am sure some of the other Calgary BookCrossers will want to add their names to the reading list. Thanks a bunch, Mathgirl40!

Picked up at get together

Journal Entry 15 by Eri-Cherry at Calgary, Alberta Canada on Thursday, May 19, 2016
This was a very interesting idea. I liked the random references to way back in history (our time - a religious procession chanting Hari Potter), and it was interesting to see the random technology they all seemed to have, although they didn't really seem to understand how it all worked. I wasn't really sure where the story was going, and it seemed a bit random, but I quite liked Fever and some of the other characters.

Thanks for the interesting read.
