She was ´Jane Doe´, an unidentified white female whose decomposed body was discovered near a quarry off California´s Highway 1. The case fell to the Santa Teresa County Sheriff´s Department, but the detectives had little to go on. The woman was young, her hands were bound with a length of wire, there were multiple stab wounds, and her throat had been slashed. After months of investigation, the murder remained unsolved.

That was eighteen years ago. Now the two men who found the body, both nearing the end of long careers in law enforcement, want one last shot at the case ... and they turn to Kinsey Millhone to help them find closure. Kinsey is intrigued and agrees to the job.

The first time I read three of the A-Z mysteries in a row (O, P and Q) and that was quite a treat. Looking forward to the next book in the series!!!

I do enjoy the reading and remember the figure and her story easily.If possible
I would like to read it in one piece, but I had to interrupt quite often...still,good stuff to me!

Ich hatte diese Woche angefangen es zu lesen, merke aber, dass ich mich aktuell nicht so hineinversetzen kann. Ist zurück gestellt für einen neuen Anlauf.

Tnaks for the book, I simply love Sue Grafton - and I haven't forgotten your Pratchett, it will go out once I'm back in Leipzig!

I can't quite put my finger on it, but this book was somehow different from the others in the series- in a good way, though! A cold case (inspired by and with author's notes on an actual, unsolved murder) and two detectives who are not so hot anymore, either - but very charming! The characters alone could make it one of my favourite Graftons, but the case kept me on my toes as well- good work :O)

I enjoyed the book and the story. I am curious whether it helped solving the unsolved murder case that was the base for the story... There are other ABC novels sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read. And I will enjoy them too, I hope.
