My retired friend M has been doing a lot of travelling since she stopped working for a living. So far she has been to Egypt, China, Paris and Turkey and she is planning a trip to India. Although I am still working my retirement event horizon is not too far away and one of the trips I plan to make is to the Galapagos Islands. I have suggested to M that she join me and she suggested we combine that trip with a side excursion to Machu Picchu. Although this book looks from the cover like it is set in Egypt she tells me it will whet my appetite for Peru so she has given it to me.

Gosh it's amazing the drivel that gets published. I'm just glad I didn't pay good money for this. Think The Da Vinci Code combined with Raiders of the Lost Ark but about one-quarter as good as those and you have an idea of the plot. ETA: I did make the trip to the Galapagos but didn't include Peru. Galapagos was totally amazing and it was as great a trip as I expected. My friend didn't accompany me but my husband did and we met some really great folks from Ohio in our tour group.
