Blurb:
Nearly a decade ago Frank McCourt became an unlikely star when, at the age of sixty-six, he burst onto the literary scene with Angela's Ashes, the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir of his childhood in Limerick, Ireland. Then came 'Tis, his glorious account of his early years in New York.
Now, here at last, is McCourt's long-awaited book about how his thirty-year teaching career shaped his second act as a writer. Teacher Man is also an urgent tribute to teachers everywhere. In bold and spirited prose featuring his irreverent wit and heartbreaking honesty, McCourt records the trials, triumphs and surprises he faces in public high schools around New York City. Teacher Man shows McCourt developing his unparalleled ability to tell a great story as, five days a week, five periods per day, he works to gain the attention and respect of unruly, hormonally charged or indifferent adolescents.
For McCourt, storytelling itself is the source of salvation, and in Teacher Man the journey to redemption -- and literary fame -- is an exhilarating adventure.

Thank you, I've not read anything by Frank McCourt before, this looks like it could be interesting, it may be a while until I can get to this as my TBR pile is so big.
It has taken longer than expected to get to this, but it was an intresting read.
This is now on its way to one of the winners in my 12th BC Anniversary RABCK, hope you enjoy it :-)
The book has arrived in perfect shape. Thank you, Yorkshire-lass. I congratulate you once again for your 12 long years on bookcrossing, and I thank you for your generosity. I look forward to reading this as McCourt's Angela's Ashes is one of my all-time favs.

I enjoyed this book immensely. It reminded me of my student days and all our classroom antics. I felt bad for my teachers, but it also gave a different perspective. I have always known teachers have a tough job, but after reading the honest and lively account from McCourt, I think teachers deserve more recognition and respect.

I didn't even know that the students were given permission to bully their teacher without reprimand so soon.
A big sense of humour he has this Frank McCourt.

Thank you very much, plum-crazy, for the lovely Christmas parcel.
As you know, I like to read one or two nonfictions a month, in among my many novels, and am always open to receiving likely candidates, so this is very much appreciated, thank you!

Having picked this up and put it back down without reading it a few times, I've decided to admit defeat and make it available to find a new, and hopefully more appreciative, reader. I don't know why I can't get interested - but for some reason it doesn't appeal. You can't win 'em all . . . . Sorry, p-c et al!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Left on the Book Exchange shelves in the lounge.
Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 over twelve million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!
Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
