I received this book from the library sale to read and or release, I don't know which yet!
This is the 3rd book in the Cousin's War series and is the story of Jacquetta, Duchess of Bedford. Jacquetta is believed to be descended from Melusina, the water goddess who is the founder of the House of Luxembourg. Melusina's gifts include the gift of sight and in Jacquetta's case she not only has the sight but hears singing when someone in her family dies.
Upon her marriage to the Duke of Bedford who was the regent of France she became the 1st lady in the country after the King's Queen. Upon her husband's death she married without permission her husband's squire Richard Woodville. They had a love match and produced 14 children and among them their 1st born Elizabeth who married King Edward of York.
Jacquetta is a very interesting person and was loyal to the Lancaster cause until her husband and son renounced Lancaster in order to save their lives and pledged to follow Edward of York.

This is a story of Jacquetta, Duchess of Bedford. Because she has the gift of sight and hearing singing at the death of someone in her family ,she is thought to be descended from Melusina, the water goddess who is the founder of the House of Luxembourg. She is given to the Duke of Bedford in marriage. This puts her as 1st lady of France behind only the king's queen. After her husband's death, she secretively marries her love, his squire, Richard Woodville. They have a loving marriage and produce 14 children. Her first born, Elizabeth will marry King Edward of York.
Jacquetta and Richard are both very loyal to the Lancaster King Henry VI and Queen Margaret. Jacquetta is Margaret favorite lady in waiting and Richard leads the king's troups into battle every-time he is asked to. Then in a foretold battle in the snow the king's men have been defeated and Richard surrenders to King Edward and they become part of the new ruling royalty, the white rose of York.
A very interesting story. It is full of passion, loyalty, ruthlessness, and legend. A story of the real mother of the white queen.
