Asterix in Britain

I've enjoyed many books in the Asterix series; the goofy, punny action and the riffs on historical facts and legends (plus some pop-culture references) are great fun. This one's been on my keeper shelves for some time now and I think it's time it went traveling.
[The TV Tropes page on the series is entertaining as well.]

I'm adding this book to k00kaburra's Ancient World bookbox; hope someone enjoys it! [The mailing order is in this forum thread, and the bookbox journal can be seen here.] The box will be on its way soon.
I'll be reading this one before I send the box on. I've heard many times here on BC about Asterix comics, but never seen one before. I'm nearly half finished already. Thanks for sharing this, GoryD!
Later the same day - I really enjoyed this, quirkily charming! I enjoyed noticing the little special touches, the Roman numerals, the quirky names, and the stereotypical British/Scottish characters. Charming! Thanks again to GoryD for sharing this! This will be going back into the box and on to the next participant.

Yaaaay! Comics!
I do so love graphic novels.

Tried to read this, but my sense of humor doesn't quite line up with Asterix. The faux-ancient Latinish names started driving me nuts after a while. My husband was a bit amused by my intolerance, since this is supposedly one of the "classics" of 1960s comics. (His description, but since he worked in a comic book shop for four years I reckon he'd know.)

adding to the Graphic Novel Shrinking Bookbox!
Yay!! Asterix!! I love Asterix! I think I've read them all as a kid, and for a while my wish was to visit Asterix Park in France and meet the real Asterix (yeah right). I love Tin Tin too but I like Asterix because it's goofier.
Anyway, real happy to see one as it's hard to find in the U.S., I rarely find them in used bookstores or libraries, and I am sure there are jokes that I didn't catch as a kid that I can appreciate now. Thanks so much for sharing. And I will try to let the book go at some point...
