Received as a Christmas present. Book 3 in the Hunger Games trilogy.

From Chapters:
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she''s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she''s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what''s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss''s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins''s groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.

The final book in the Hunger Games trilogy sees Katniss rescued from another Hunger Games in an attempt by District 13, which everyone thought didn't exist, to overthrow the Capital. The problem is that Peeta was taken by the Capital and Katniss feels completely responsible. District 13 wants her to be the mockingjay and the face of the revolution against the Capital. It doesn't take Katniss long to decide when she sees Peeta show up multiple times on Capital television looking worse and worse. Only one person knows what she's going through, a previous victor who also made it out of the last Hunger Games, Finnick. As they commiserate with each other, District 13 is crafting a plan of how to capture the Capital and Katniss wants President Snow for herself.

The relationship development in this book was great and I would have liked to see it a bit more in the second book. I really enjoyed Finnick, once we got to know him and liked seeing Prim grow in to her own as well. Though not as captivating as the first two books, this still rounded out the series quite nicely. I don't think I fully understood Katniss' final decision of the Hunger Games. Was it for revenge or to save herself from Coin? This was a fabulous story and books I will be keeping in my collection!

Katniss survived yet another Hunger Games and is now in District 13 with her family and some of the other survivors. However, Peeta was captured by the Capitol and Katniss feels the guilt. President Snow wants revenge and thinks that Katniss is responsible for the revolution.

Katniss suffers through some very dark times trying to come to grip with her new reality. Gabe is there but he is very 'into' the revolt. District 13 is using Katniss to broadcast their victories and the Capitol is using Peeta against Katniss.. Katniss takes to hiding in cupboards and closets. Katniss is also still deciding between the two guys in her life.

I loved this book the best. The character development is fantastic. The hardship and mental toil Katniss is under is depicted. Prim, Katniss' s sister grew up and Finnick and Boggs really shone. Some of the developments at the end were not to my liking but then again this is not a feel-good part of the series but a dark story.

A Great series!
