Here are my thoughts and also a resume of the book...

This book is about a mountaineer, Greg Mortenson, when back in 1993 he decided to help a village he visited then to get a new building for their school, in one of the most impoverished regions o Pakistan. We read about his tribulations to get the money and materials to achieve his goal, as well to get to the village. I’ve read a lot of good things about this book and wanted to give it a try. But, as much as it’s an interesting subject, the storytelling is slow – too slow for me – and I simply gave up reading it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fine and courageous thing what Greg Mortenson did and still do, and applause his will to achieve it, but it wasn’t meant for me to go through the book. Everytime I picked up the book to continue reading it, it wasn’t too long that I was putting it down, as I couldn’t get into it. Hopefully, some other reader will like this book and if someone is into this kind of non-fiction, then I suggest you give it a try as it might be a good one to read.

Thank you so much for sending this book!

Edit to add: While looking at some books in the book ring/ray forum, I found a blog post about this book, telling that this story might not be totally true: https://fashion-piranha.livejournal.com/139038.html
Unfortunatly, the link to the video wasn't available now, so I can't see it.
I'll give this book a try anyway, and just take it with a grain of salt. It might still be an interesting read. And I won't jump to any conclusion about what's right or wrong based on the little information I've read.

Journal Entry 10 by CathrineB at Hønefoss, Buskerud fylke Norway on Sunday, February 16, 2020
I have to agree with carelaisa, the storytelling was a bit slow. But I still found it interesting enough to read.
Based on the information in the link I mentioned in my previous post, the story might not be 100% accurate. But I assume that Greg Mortenson did at least help building schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan and provide education to kids there. Kids that otherwise wouldn't have gotten an education. Credit to him for that!!
