Purchased from the Friends of the Huron Public Library's book cart to help raise funds for library projects. Chosen for the uncanny resemblance to Ty Roth's "So Shelly" book cover...check them both out sometime

From the back cover: On an early spring night, Sophie and her boyfriend Crow slip away from a rowdy high school party and sneak off into the woods. But what is meant to be an idyllic, intimate evening turns into a nightmare. Sophie is attacked and refuses to speak. Crow is arrested for the crime, despite his claims of innocence. The incident reverberates throughout the community of the seemingly placid Tennessee town, among parents, friends, teachers, and neighbors--all connected to the young lovers, all with a stake in what happens next. As growing suspicions divide the town, a closer look reveals that everyone has something to hide.
A compelling and passionate page-turner, this novel is a haunting story of innocence lost, lives betrayed, and the courage required to face the truth.

Two teens, Sophie and Crow, sneak off to be together one beautiful spring night, but then a disaster occurs, and the pair may never be the same.

For Sophie, will she ever talk again? Will she ever figure out who it was who raped her? Was it her boyfriend Crow or some random stranger?

For Crow, will he be charged for the crime? Will he be acquitted? And how will it affect him?

It is this event that brings secrets to the surface, and nobody will be left untouched.

Thank you for sharing this book with me. Wow, it was a very good read and I wouldn't want to spoil it for the next reader... so many thoughts.
Small towns and big dreams and big secrets.

I like how each character was described individually through out the book- their thoughts and feelings. It's interesting how many of them (adult and teens) blamed others and/or life for their circumstances and either wouldn't or couldn't accept that only they were responsable for their actions, even when they "accepted" their blame.

That one night when Sophie was basically gang raped changed everyone's life and ultimately brought several little secrets to light. Would Sophie, Crow and their family/friends ever be able to return to "normal"? And would they ever find out who raped Sophie?

That one moment and it's ripple effect on the town is slowly, carefully told in a very real life way. This will pull you in until the very end.
