Purchased from the Friends of the Huron Public Library's book cart to help raise funds for the library.

From the back cover: In most ways, Isabelle and Amy are like any mother and her 16-year-old daughter, a fierce mix of love and loathing exchanged in every glance. That they eat, sleep, and work side by side in the gossip-ridden mill town of Shirley Falls only increases the tension. And just when it appears things can't get any worse, Amy's sexuality begins to unfold, causing a vast and icy rift between mother and daughter that will remain unbridgeable unless Isabelle examines her own secretive and shameful past.

Thank you for your kind contribution to the book cart! This looks like a book I would enjoy, so I may read it before releasing it.

I did, in fact, read this, mostly because friends were very split on it. Some loved it, some told me not to waste my time with it. I fell kind of in the middle. I didn't think it was fantastic, but I finished it and I'm not sorry I read it. It is the type of book I normally enjoy, quiet with not a lot of action. Introspective. Lots of focus on relationships, especially between mother and daughter. Though I didn't love it and wouldn't necessarily broadly recommend it, I kind of wish I'd held off on reading it and used it as my choice for my book club's read. I think there's a lot in here to discuss with others

Thanks for sharing! I'll be releasing this to the hospital cart soon.
