"In 'Dolphin's Rescue', the young dolphin we met in 'Dolphin's Triumph' discovers her friend in terrible danger. She must find a way to help, and quickly. Then she remembers the skill her mother taught her.
Bottlenose Dolphins communicate using high pitched whistles, squeaks, creaks and clicks. They also use those sounds to make sense of the watery world around them, through echolocation: sounds are sent out, they bounce off an object back to the dolphin which then interprets the sounds. Scientists are still studying dolphins' methods of communication, but it appears the distress signal is two short whistles - the first to get attention and the second to communicate distress."
