One minute Mia's totally normal. Next minute she's heir to the throne of Genovia. Well, her dad can lecture her until he's royal-blue in the face, but no way is Mia going to behave like some posh princess. And they think she's moving to Genovia? Er, hello?

I enjoyed reading Mia's Princess Diary. It is funny and was nice to see her grow up a little as the book progresses. I think Meg Cabot did a good job of getting inside a teenage girls head and imagining what would happen to a girl who discovered she is a princess (after 14 years of ignorant bliss), and doesn't want to be! Like she didn't have enough on her plate, just being a teenager. Also loving her being a teenage Vegetarian. I have seen the Disney film and this book is very different. It's more not so sugary.

Book has arrived safe and well and was a very lovely surprise :-)
31 Jan 13 - I started out enjoying this book and then the big news was announced that Mia is actually a princess, after that it all got a bit silly for my liking and I started to find Mia quite annoying at times. It was interesting idea but did not quite work for me, a fun quick read though.

Quick read and I enjoyed parts of it, but I found it too juvenile and silly at times. Yes, I know, Mia's just a teenager, and a shy and self-conscious one at that, so I guess if I was her age I could've related better to this. Shame that the plot was quite predictable, too. But still, it's a nice and undemanding short read and I'm sure especially teenagers will be happy about it.
