A Skip Langdon story.

This may have been the book I bought twice and twenty pages in on the second time before I realized it sounded awful familiar. I read another few pages before flinging it across the room - I have already read this book!

It was enjoyable. Back to New Orleans. And I love the first sentence:

"New Orleans could wreck your liver and poison your blood." My kind of town!

From the back cover:

"In hundreds of anonymous self-help groups, New Orleans' restless young and not so young sarch for love, self-esteem, freedom from addictions, a quick roll in the hay, the lost inner child, you name it. Enter the Axeman, a 1990s reincarnation of the city's notorious serial killer of seventy years ago. Pretyy Linda Lee Strickland, strangled in her own apartment, is the first victim.

"For detective Skip Langod, cheated of a romantic vacation by the killing, the case is a bummer. Yet as she threads her fascinated way from one self-hjelp group to another, she finds she has more in common with the twelve-steppers than just the murder. And she knows what they do not: that among their anonymous numbers is a dead dangerous, and dangerously attractive, psychopath. . . ."

A few years ago I read _Jazz Funeral,_ a different Julie Smith novel in the same series. So it will be interesting to see if this one is as good. And I've always wanted to go to New Orleans, so a little armchair travel will be fun. Thanks marcus23!

Good to see you at the meeting! I like stories about (the old) New Orleans, so this one looks promising.
