I enjoy reading Miss Read's books about life in a small English village during the 1950s. It is so different from life today. Reading the stories gives me a feeling of peace. However, the story of the floating woman was understandably unbelievable to me. The ghost story also did not seem that real because ghosts generally don't have conversations with people. I still plan to read my next Miss Read book. Reading her books are more than just reading, it is experiencing life in a more simple time and is very calming.
