I wonder how long Joseph Finder worked on this book? He has painstaking found the facts about every single operation, from weapons to government agencies. I learned a lot about the military trial. There were many twists that you'll be guessing until the very last page.
Claire Heller Chapman - a high-powered attorney and Harvard law professor - is shocked when a quiet dinner with her husband, Tom, and her daughter ends with Tom being chased by and eluding FBI agents. When he is apprehended, Tom is accused of committing a heinous crime during his stint in the Army's Special Forces thirteen years ago.
As Claire prepares to defend Tom in a military court, she uncovers government conspiracies that touch all levels of military brass. Her diligence may cost Claire her reputation and her life - and the hits just keep coming. Just when you think it can't get any worse, you're in for another surprise, right up till the very last page.

I thought this was a fairly enjoyable legal thriller in light of the fact that I haven't previously read any of Finder's other novels. A female lawyer's life is turned upside down when her husband is arrested for multiple murders & she discovers that the man she thought she knew well is not the person she thought he was. But is he really guilty of the crimes? While portions of this story were somewhat predictable & it reminded me a lot of A Few Good Men, it was engaging enough to make me want to keep listening & not want to get out of the car. Being the abridged audiobook version, there were some abrupt transitions that I've come to expect with abridgements, but nothing that made it too hard to follow. As far as abridgements go, this one was pretty good, although I would've been interested to read an unabridged version to get some more background information.

I very much enjoyed listening to this book in my car. At times I would find myself sitting in the parking lot at work or in front of a store not wanting to turn my car off as the story was that captivating.
I was not expecting the ending, although it didn't surprise me. I was disappointed with some of the characters after the trial was over.

I enjoyed listening to this book on my work commute. I was surprised by the ending. I don't have anything else to add that hasn't been said by previous journalers.
