The cover of this book advised it is 'An Immortal Love Story' but if you're looking for a romantic novel then you'll be disapponited, Very disappointed! It's a strange and twisted love story about unrequited love between Lanny and Jonathan, one person in the relationship is the Giver while the other is the Taker.
This is a dark novel which has some points which made me squirm, some parts I didn't want to carry on reading, but yet, I couldn't bring myself to put it down either, sort of like watching a scary film and putting a cushion in front of eyes . . . then peeking round the side for a glimpse. I enjoyed the authors writing style and found the book had a good flow. I enjoyed the Alchemy element and it wasn't too heavy on the historical side too. However, I think there were a few points which was left unanswered, I personally felt these should have been cleared up. Could be there's going to be a sequel (although I doubt it) or maybe it's left up to us to make our own conclusions?
