And so the next Bond in my retro-re-read extravaganza arrives - care of eBay :)

(29/11/11) Ah Bond is back on great form, heh did he ever really go anywhere but lying dormant in the secret place where all men are boys love secret agents, villains, gadgets, girls, and guns :)

In this case the adventure is a fiendish plot by SPECTRE, Blofeld and his gang of crims, to blackmail the world with stolen nuclear warheads in a very cold war plot. The girl is the fiery Domino, moll to Largo. The settings are a country club, the Caribbean, and under water. All very silly, ridiculously out of date and non-PC, but how come they keep getting better! This will be passed on, as usual, to the boys own Bond appreciation society...

Another Bond book to pass around the little ipswich bookcrossing spy club ... ;)

This one has a classic Bond villain, along with a classic Bond plot of the world being held to ransom for a hundred meeellion pounds ... the steamy tit-for-tat squabbling with Count Lippe at the start seems a bit petty for Bond, but the story quickly settles into the usual action-packed fest. It's a bit of a squash to link the Bond girl Domino with the treacherous pilot of the nuke-carrying planes, but it's so fast-paced you barely notice. It's especially pleasing to see Domino survive the torture and rescue Bond at the end of the story.

All in all, yet another Bond classic!

I enjoyed this wholeheartedly, despite the fact that his female leads pretty much always annoy me.
