It took me longer than usual to get into this book. In the beginning I found the voice of Leo to be slightly odd, but once I got to know him I really warmed to him and his quirkiness. What irritated me, however, was his constant repetition of "Any yet." Drove me bonkers and felt a little bit like the author was trying too hard to be profound.
I loved young Alma's character. Her part of the story was a very sweet yet very different coming of age story.
The introduction of Bird's point of view near the end of the novel was unexpected, yet added a little bit of cute humour to the novel that I really appreciated.

This was an odd and somewhat confusing and sometimes irritating book. It has an open-ended but somewhat moving ending. The title is what drew me to read this book, but I would have to say that love is a very hit or miss proposition according to this book. Those that do love are often lonely or still somewhat alienated from the person that they love.
