Amazon Editorial Review:
Readers will witness the birth of a heroine in Dawn of the Dreadfuls—a thrilling prequel set four years before the horrific events of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. As our story opens, the Bennet sisters are enjoying a peaceful life in the English countryside. They idle away the days reading, gardening, and daydreaming about future husbands—until a funeral at the local parish goes strangely and horribly awry.
Suddenly corpses are springing from the soft earth—and only one family can stop them. As the bodies pile up, we watch Elizabeth Bennet evolve from a naive young teenager into a savage slayer of the undead. Along the way, two men vie for her affections: Master Hawksworth is the powerful warrior who trains her to kill, while thoughtful Dr. Keckilpenny seeks to conquer the walking dead using science instead of strength. Will either man win the prize of Elizabeth’s heart? Or will their hearts be feasted upon by hordes of marauding zombies? Complete with romance, action, comedy, and an army of shambling corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls will have Jane Austen rolling in her grave—and just might inspire her to crawl out of it!

The story starts off not as strongly as the two follow up books, but improves as the story goes on. I liked the last section of the book and would score that nine. However overall I rated it seven.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I posted this book today to emmmersss in the USA. The book is going seamail; having a sea cruise.
I hope you enjoy this read. The first part of this book I found the weakest of all the stories, but read on, it improves.
I couldn’t decide which of -
1. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, by Jane Austen, Seth Grahame-Smith
2. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls, by Steve Hockensmith
- to put first, so I sent one to emmmersss and the other to biisbsw. After you have read that book swap, and then send them onto the next person on the list.
I will send on the third in the series when these books have moved on.
This book is released:
In memory of Megi53’s mother
2012 The Ultimate Challenge

looking forward to read this one!!
Here are my thoughts, taken from my blog...
The first thing here quite easy to notice is that it’s an entirely new story, as they was never one written about the Bennet sisters relating their lives while they were teenagers. So, it’s kind of interesting to see how their lives would have been and also, how they learn to be warriors. It was fun to read, filled with lots of dreadfuls and a splash of romance. But the main goal with the story was to create a background for their warriors’ knowledge. The author recreated the writing like it was done in the Victorian era though it was written only two years ago, which I liked quite a lot… and he was quite good at it. Now, I’m looking forward to read the other book in this series.
I have the address of angelface46, so I will mail the book to her on Friday.

This one arrived yesterday, but I forgot to make JE. I have few books to read before I can start this one, but I'll try to be quick! :)
As the first part, this was also nicely written and I liked the story. First it was a bit difficult to remember that Mr. Darcy is not part of the story yet, as the original book is so strongly in my mind. But this was really entertaining and I liked it how things were sorted out in the end.
Thanks for sharing this one! :)

Book has arrived. I didn't realize this is a prequel to the first one. I wonder if that would make the romance part less interesting as we all know there will be a Mr. Darcy on the way. I enjoyed very much the first book so I look forward to this one, although with two rings ahead of this it may take a little bit more time before I can start on it. Sorry but work has been rather hectic lately so I didn't get as much reading time as I'd like.
8/22 ETA: I just started on the book and about 30 pages into it. I estimate I should be able to finish it in about 2 weeks.

First off, sorry that it took longer than usual for me to read this, and thank you so much for your patience.
I enjoyed the story, a bit too gory towards the end, but it's interesting enough. It just doesn't feel as Austen-ish as the first one though, I guess because it's an original tale.
I have Billbooks' address already and should be able to send this out within a few days.
Thanks again for sharing this book, real glad I get to read it.

Safely arrived here late last week and as I am the last on the list at the moment I shall put on my TBR as I have two books to read before the end of October for book group.
Have too many books so sending this one to a new home
