Sovereign (Shardlake)

Even though I enjoy each Shardlake book better then the last one, just don't enjoy them enough to give them that extra star! After two books with just mentions, we finally get to meet the king in person. Even if it's just for a moment. When I read about Henry VIII, I picture him in one of two ways. If he is being the charming king, wooing women then I like to picture Showtime's 'The Tudors'. However if he is being mean and nasty like he is in this this book, then I picture him in the more traditional fat way. I'm really glad that Barak stuck around for this book. I warmed to him in Dark Fire and think he is a much better companion for Shardlake then Mark. I didn't guess who was the real person behind it all, I thought it was someone else entirely. I didn't like Tamasin as a character, I just distrust her. As I've started the forth book already, I'm kinda annoyed that she is still around.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Sansom paints Henry in very unfavourable colours - I suppose he was a bit like that at this point in his reign. Glad I read it.
