Fairly run-of-the mill murder story. With a pretty predictable ending - I thought so anyway.

Why is it that a lady writer, writing about a lady cop always has her heroine sleeping with either her partner, the chief suspect or the victim??? Ms Hightower also goes into great detail about every time her heroine drinks her coffee - but she never goes to the toilet - why bother to keep describing how much ceam and/or chocolate she like in her coffee ? Baffles me.

On its way to Norway

I didn't think this was too predictable but I got a little irritated with events near the end. I do like the main character (Sonora) and how she has a hard time having a home life when in the middle of a case. Definitely not superwoman!

LonelyGuy, these women have no social lives in these books so haven't got a lot of choice but to have relationships with people they meet through their work. (That's my theory, anyway!) I also think you might have skipped the bits where she went to the bathroom, due to the discussions on lipstick colours and their relative merits. Of course, I may have been counting how many times she went after reading your previous comments!

Thanks for sending me the book. I'll either be releasing it or trading it or perhaps it will be part of a relay again.

Journal Entry 6 by kafka from Phoenix, Arizona USA on Wednesday, February 25, 2004
As I began reading I realized that I must have read another in this series at one time because the characters were very familiar. I liked all of the characters & found them interesting & apparently they're very memorable for me ;-) I'll definitely look up the others in this series & fill in the gaps.

I'm going to jump this back into the relay at an appropriate time. Thanks for sharing it with me!

I did enjoy this book - found it to be gritty, realistic and well-paced. However, there is a major problem in that the chapters are so short - there is no time for things to develop. I will offer it back up on the relays.
