The Story of a Murderer
I read this on a bookring a while ago and really enjoyed it (don't remember a lot to say about it now though...) so was pleased to pick up a second hand copy for a friend

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
On it's way to my UK Uncon Postal NSS Partner!
Thank you, my UK UNcon Postal NSS partner! It had to be you, eh? :) Lovely things spilled out of the parcel, along with this wishlist book I've been wanting to read since a while. Handmade presents are the best, I agree, and you're a wiz crafter! Thank you so much for all the goodies, i'm thrilled! Have a great UNcon! :)
This one has been sitting on the shelves since a while, so posted it off to Ecuas, who's been wanting something interesting to read. I think you'll like it, it seems your type.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to get through a bit of Mt. TBR before I can arrive at this book but it's a woefully slow process as there are so many to read!!
Thanks again Vekiki!

Its one of those books which one will either love or totally dislike. I loved it. Its very different. Throughout the book, I found myself connected to the protagonist in a strange way. The author successfully manages to lead the reader through a range of feelings for the protagonist - from disgust to pity to love to horror to absolute hate. And managing that in a matter of approx 250 pages is a wonderful achievement. I would appeal the next reader to give this book time, and, taking a leaf from the pages of the book, "give the perfume time to mature", because sometimes you would get the feeling that the story was taking a predictable path, and you might give up on it just before the next big twist.
The only complaint I have is it got a bit inconsistent towards the end, but I guess that can be overlooked because what the author has managed to do with his subject, which is very easy to take for granted but hard to treat as a subject for a story, is amazing.
