Added to Kookaburra's Manga/Graphic novel bookbox and shipped out.
I was able to read this cute little manga already, and will be leaving it in the Manga/Graphic Novel bookbox, which will be on its way soon to BCer quietorchid in Minnesota.
This has plenty of typical elements for its genre, including several insanely cute, big-eyed girls, some with fox-ears, and a hapless schoolboy who finds himself the object of their devotion and/or jealousy. But it adds the amusing touch that the boy is a youkai otaku - basically, a nerdy fanboy for all things ghostly or demonic. He's also painfully worried about seeming "cool", so he doesn't want anyone to know about his passion for youkai. No prizes for guessing what happens next; the adorable fox-eared girl on the cover shows up, telling him she's come to repay him (he has no idea what for), and her presence leads to more and more encounters with youkai of different types (including her, when she reveals her true form). Our young hero is fascinated by the youkai, of course, but - and this is the part that cracked me up - he'd always imagined that he'd get to hang out with the crude, rude louts among the ghost-and-goblin clans, rather than having a bevy of beauties who all want to bat their eyes at him and make him meals. [He finally does tell one of the newest additions that he doesn't want a girly youkai, which pleases this individual very much - the reason why is made hilariously obvious shortly afterwards. Poor Ren!]
I don't know that this is a series I'd go out of my way to follow, but I did find this volume charming and entertaining. There's an extensive set of notes at the end, too, with info about all the different youkai seen (or even just imagined).

Taken from k00kuburra's Manga box! Thanks for throwing this in AKSarah! Story about several fox spirits who are trying to repay a cute (of course!) boy for favors.
Sent off in AKSarah's Manga Bookbox.

I might be keeping this one.
I don't know why I keep reading Koge-Donbo stories. I mean, the art's cute and all but the stories are usually the same old thing, repackaged over and over again. In Pita Ten, an angel latches onto a typical boy next door and swears to protect him, despite knowing little of the human world. Swap out the angel with two fox spirits, and you've got Kon Kon Kokon.
The fox spirits/water sprite don't have any personality beyond 'cute'; the main character, a boy named Ren who is obsessed with youkai, is interesting and I would like to read more about him, but he's constantly getting drowned out by the various female characters fawning all over him.
