I had high hopes for this book and felt let down by it in the end, the protagonists voice just didn't ring true for me and some I felt that the author perhaps should have done more research into children of this age. That said this book is on the Booker Longlist and has a 4 star rating on amazon, I've read many positive reviews of it so I'm hoping to send it out as a BookRing and see what other readers think of it.

Sorry this has taken so long to post, life has been hectic and everything seems to have gone by the wayside since the summer. Sorry again x
The book has arrived safely and I look forward to reading it. Thank you.
Hard realistic novel which makes you think. I can see why it was short-listed for the Man Booker prize but I don't think it will be my favourite.
Off to the next in line.

just received today - thank you, especially for the pretty X-mas greetings, mafarrimond. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all of you!
wow - what a book. I love Harri´s way of telling his story, his view of the world. It is an important book concerning the story of his family (illegal refugees to the UK) and place they are living (poor part of the city). I hope that it makes people think that our societies in Europe are far away from being fair - within our countries and as part of the EU blocking everybody to come in from the outside. At the same time we put high subventions on our products and tolls on those coming in that people in countries outside the EU dont have any chances to compete on the world market. In the market of Dakah, Senegal, it is cheeper to buy vegetables imported from the EU than from their own country - and on top of it we speak of liberal markets ...
Anyways, I support the book and author and like that he took Harri to tell his story from the child´s point of view. One star less for the end ;-((
I forward the book to Leamhliom today.

Thank you for sending me on this book. I found the story of Harrison quite inspiring, though the book seems to be partly based on a true story.
Sending on to Sidney1.
