Some of King's finest writing is in these stories. 'Rage' is pretty average (and has been withdrawn from publishing at the author's request due to it's link to a highschool shooting) and didn't do much for me. But 'The Long Walk', 'Road work' and 'The Running Man' show a use of the written word that is both lean and powerful. Certainly well above the bloated whales King's written recently.
