One of Banks' bankers - mad, marauding and magnificent tale of love, death, life and revenge - pretty much in that order. The reader is thrown from sensual underwater love scenes to wartorn battle scenes in the gut of the ship. What a film this would make!

Wow, can't believe how long it took me to actually read this book. The first half I just couldn't get into, I don't know if that was just because I wasn't in the right mood to read it, but I'm glad I stuck with it, as once the baddies appeared I was on the edge of my seat and had to read it straight through the night. I sort of liked the non-ending, but I thought she was such a great character, that I wanted to know what else happened to her.
Not sure where the book will go next, I may save it for the Un-Con in Leeds this year.
