Excellent and much acclaimed first novel by Amy Tan. It was made into a not too bad movie as well.
The book focuses on the relationships between mothers and daughters, where the mother’s are Chinese immigrants to the USA, and the daughters are born in the new country. It’s a remarkable story, and gave me an appreciation of the tremendous challenges faced, and sacrifices it takes to immigrate to a new and completely foreign culture. There is much much more to this book, and it’s a wonderful read.
