As it says on the back, this is the story of an Andalusian shepherd boy who goes in search of a treasure that he has dreamt about. From his home in Spain he travels to Tangier, than across the desert to the pyramids of Egypt. It is also about how we can all learn from the people around us, from the events that happen to us, and from the natural world we are a part of. It is about the wisdom of listening to our own heart, learning to follow the omens and, most of all, about following our dreams.

Having said that, it is also a very down to earth book, about one boy's adventure. On one level it is a fun romp through a number of adventures. But on another level, it is so much more.

I'm not very good at reading between the lines. I like things spelled out for me. I don't have the brains for this sort of book. Although the story was okay it was pretty simple, in my eyes anyways, I know there is an underlying theme of following your dreams but from other reviews I gather there is more to it than that. I'm just glad it was short as I found it slightly dull.
