Another book that's languished on Mt TBR for too long, but which I finally got around to reading. And I'm glad I did - it was a very interesting glimpse not only at the Parisian underworld between the wars, but also inadvertently illustrates British middle class life of the time, as the reactions of the character through whom we see Paris illuminate his own background and expectations as much as what he is looking at.
