Oh yes, the perils of releasing in a country you're not familiar with! I tend to release a lot of books when I'm travelling (lately that's been the only time I've really released books), and it's always such a struggle to figure out what state/province/region/whatever you're in, and then the local spelling of the precise location
Having an option to release by using the coordinates would help here; then the site could make the correct release place names of where those coordinates are. But it might be too much work to do that and not everyone knows about coordinates. For those that do though it would be useful to be able to take the coordinates on your phone or gps and give the correct release spot. If a phone app was made for BC release, perhaps being able to click on something would allow releasing in real time and the phone knowing where you are, would be able to log automatically, country, state etc, town and time of release. The person releasing would then only need to give the detail of where exactly the book was released, such as on the bench or by the horse statue, etc. Doing a manual release should always remain an option though, for those without smart phones, or out of mobile/cell range.
By the way, there are a lot of Geocachers out there, and if a book were something else that could be hunted using coordinates perhaps that would get interest from the millions of Geocachers, as another thing to hunt down. Just a thought. Don't know if this would be so.
