[2018] Titles A-Z – reading challenge

Complete Thread
A new year is around the corner, and I'm therefore launching the 2018 edition of this reading challenge.
In this challenge, the goal is to read 26 different books through the year, where the titles of the books start with each letter in the alphabet (A to Z). Words like «a» and «the», and eqivalents in other languages (like «ein»/«der» an so on in German) DO count. So «A Captain's Duty» by Richard Phillips would count as A. And "The Book of Lost & Found" by Lucy Foley is to be listed as T.
If you have any special letters in your alphabet (like Æ, Ø and Å here in Norway), you might count these as well. Or if you read books in a non-latin script, like Thai, Cyrillic, Arabic, you can list these letters as well.
As it's the title that is important, not the author, you can read several books by one author.
You can count the same book in this challenge and the "Authors A-Z" reading challenge (http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/6/548373) or other reading challenges if you want to.
And when you've finished a book, make a post here, telling about the book. Please tell the title, name of author, bookcrossing link if applicable, what the book is about and what you think of it.
You may include an alpabetical list of the titles you've read for this challenge in your posts as well.

Enjoyed the book more than I thought I would.
Enjoyed the book more than I thought I would.
I see several players are recording titles starting with the word The as the letter of the second word.
E.g. The Chemist is being counted as C
I thought this was incorrect and was a T for this game?
Yes, titles starting with "The" should be counted as the letter T, *not* the letter of the second word! Same goes for titles starting with "A".
Please observe the rule below! Thanks!
The following books are listed under the wrong letter. Should be listed as the letter in the FIRST WORD, which means most of the titles below should be listed as T, as the first word is "The"
Words like «a» and «the», and eqivalents in other languages (like «ein»/«der» an so on in German) DO count. So «A Captain's Duty» by Richard Phillips would count as A.

E Elephant Company by Vicki Croke - the story of colonial teak man in Burma who uses his skills with elephants during WW2
F Faceless Killers by Henning Mankell. I am a fan of this author and his flawed Detective Wallander though i have never warmed to the TV series.
G Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee. Set two decades after the masterpiece To Kill A Mockingbird. Fails to live up to expectations.
H Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Wonderful novel set in Nigeria and read for the 666 challenge. Looks in detail at three lives in the 1960s. Recommended
I Island Beneath the Sea. By Isabel Allende Starts in Haiti and moves to Louisiana. Set in the times of slaves. Read for the 666 challenge. An enjoyable long read.
J
K Krik? Krak! by Edwige Danticat A book of short stories of variable quality set in Haiti - read for the 666 challenge
L Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls by David Sedaris Humourous essays that never fail to amuse. I am going to Daylesford in Australia later in the year to do some family tree research. His description of it as being like "Dodge City designed by homosexuals" has me intrigued.
M Maps for Lost Lovers by Nadeem Aslam "Honour" murders in a Pakistani Community in a UK city. So difficult to comprehend this adherence to such a cruel code.
N
O Our Souls At Night by Kent Haruf. Wonderful tender exploration of love, loneliness and aging. Highly recommended
P Pachinko by Min Jin Lee Korean Family saga spanning several generations and countries last century - excellent read
Q
R Red Sky in Mourning by Tami Oldham Ashcraft The true story of a tragic yacht delivery
S Senor Vivo and the Coca Lord by Louis Dr Bernieres. Read for the 666 challenge, the story of a Professor who dares to challenge with his letters to the editor the drug lords with disastrous consequences for those he loves. Wonderful read.
T The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson Revenge murders of a group who seriously sexually assaulted young Indian girl from the reservation, flawed cop and Indian side kick are on the trail - first in a series . I liked the portrayal of the Indians the author seemed honest and sensitive.
U Unsuitable for Ladies An anthology of women travellers by Jane Robinson Exactly as the title suggests
V
W Wonder by R J Palacio I rarely go to movies, but my friends and workmates do. I like to read the books of current movies so I can participate a little in the conversations.
X
