I am *still* reading Emerson's Essays. (It isn't November 1 yet, but there's no way I'm finishing this book [or any of the other overly-intellectual books left in Mt. TBR] by midnight.)

1 January 17: 38 printed + 12 Kindle = 50 as a starting point for the year
1 February 17: 34 printed + 14 Kindle = 48, having read 19 books in January
1 March 17: 25 printed + 13 Kindle = 38, having read 26 books in February
1 April 17: 27 printed + 16 Kindle = 43, having read a ridiculous 29 books in March!
1 May 17: 22 printed + 16 Kindle = 38, having read 25 books in April
1 June 17: 19 printed + 16 Kindle = 35, having read 30 books in May

1 August 17: 22 printed + 19 Kindle = 41, having read 23 books in July
1 September 17: 20 printed + 20 Kindle = 40, having read only 17 books in August

(having read 102 books so far this year ....)

more culling this month, plus marathon reading of a series

So....1300 even. I find I'm exercising more restraint with the Kindle buys - no more maybe books being accumulated, even if they are free (and if they're free, it's usually for a good reason.)

even if they are free (and if they're free, it's usually for a good reason.)

Ain't that the truth!!!
The only Kindle freebies I download these days are by authors I already know and trust, e.g. the historian Alison Weir just made available a short story associated with her Anne Boleyn novel, which also contains promotional material for the series, including the first chapter of the third which is due for publication next March.
I've been preached at far too often to fall for any more evangelical tracts posing as novels . . . . :-)

January - 1084
February - 1080
March - 1080
April - 1078
May - 1084
June - 1094
July - 1097
August - 1095
September - 1095
October - 1094
November - 1102

How did that happen?

January - 156 (4 borrowed, 29 registered by others)
February - 144 (25 registered by others)
March - 155 (34 registered by others)
April - 159 (39 registered by others)
May - 172 (46 registered by others)
June - 174 (45 registered by others)
July - 176 (45 registered by others)
August - 191 (52 registered by others)
September - 195 (56 registered by others)
October - 205 (57 registered by others)
November - 213 (62 registered by others) (given that I remember right about the number of unregistered TBR books)

It may have taken 5/6 of the year, but the numbers are heading in the right direction finally, and actually continuing that trajectory!

I've managed to still keep my book list to below 50 (well physical books anyway!) I may rejoin next year as my aim really is to get my physical books down to 10-15. Fat chance this year as i am at 48 again!
