Finished listening to The Probable Future by Alice Hoffman - She is my guilty pleasure reading. I want to stay in this world for awhile. Sigh...

Mark of the Raven had great potential but suffered from lack of editing of grammatical and spelling mistakes:

This is a book from the TBR pile, in fact it's been there since 2010! So I have now read 7 out of 11 books from there.

Now I am reading The Darkhouse by Barbara Radecki.

15. #NotYourPrincess: Voices of Native American Women edited by Lisa Charleyboy and Mary Beth Leatherdale - this is a keeper.
Now reading:
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
High Spirits: A Collection of Ghost Stories by Robertson Davies

The Darkhouse is YA fiction and I suspect they might give it a slightly higher rating than I did but I still enjoyed it quite a bit:

Another library book so I have now read 11 out of 11 for this challenge.
I'll have to buckle down and get the TBR pile down a bit.

To that end I started Put on the Armour of Light by Catherine Macdonald.

Out of the Woods but Not Over the Hill by Gervase Phinn

http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8426468/

Put on the Armour of Light is a historical mystery set in my home, Winnipeg, in 1899. First book from this author, Catherine Macdonald, but I really hope she is planning on more:

I believe that gets me to 8 out of 11 books from my TBR pile.

Now I am reading The Clown Service by Guy Adams.

SIY # 43 - I'll be posting the sign up for our first SIY Challenge of 2018 in a few days. I can't believe we are approaching a new year already.

Another successful finish. Woohoo!

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle - first time reading this classic and enjoyed it.
Now reading:
A Wind in the Door by Madeleine L'Engle - yes, I am reading the series.

The Mother's Promise by Sally Hepworth

a mother and daughter story that goes horribly awry when the mother is diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer

Creation in Death by J.D. Robb

Clown Service was okay but since it was promoted to me as being like the Ben Aaronovitch Rivers of London series I had high expectations and it didn't live up to that:

Another book off the TBR pile so only two more to go which will be The Chess Men by Peter May and Hide and Seek by Ian Rankin. Since I usually gobble up books from both those writers I have high hopes of finishing both of them before the end of the month.

I'm getting an elf! :-)

Read the Haunting of James Hastings and listened to Out of the Woods but not Over the Hill

Reading Others by James Herbet

High Spirits by Robertson Davies.

The correct title of the Rebecca Stead novel is When You Reach Me.

The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore
Now reading my last book - When You Reach Me.

I finished these a few days ago but was lazy about doing my reviews. Now I've done that here are the last two reviews:
The Chess Men by Peter May:
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/14742711/
Tooth & Nail by Ian Rankin:
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8285183

Sharp-eyed readers will notice that my last book, although by the author that I said it would be, is not the book I posted in my last update. I mistakenly took Tooth & Nail off the bookshelf (#3 in the Rebus series) instead of Hide and Seek (#2 in the Rebus series). I didn't discover my mistake until I went to do the review. No great harm done and I intend to read Hide and Seek very soon in the new year.

Congratulations to everyone who finished their challenge and even those who didn't as long as you enjoyed yourself. Thank you to Katethegreyt and Diane-Fraser for the excellent job in steering this challenge to another successful conclusion.

Congratulations to the great Canadian reader, gypsysmom, on attaining her elf!

When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead

And that is it. I am four books short of my goal for this challenge and my year long goal of 65 books. But I can live with this. I read many books this month and still impressed myself. I came so close.
On to the next challenge beginning tomorrow.

who completed their challenge. (and no, I wasn't one of you.) Happy 2018 to all! May everyone who is participating next year complete their challenge.

You deserve that elf and more. :-)
