Invitation to the UnCon in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, from 16 to 18 October 2020

The UnCon in the German-speaking region of Europe will this year take place in the centre of the city of Essen, and we take this opportunity to invite all Bookcrossers from near and far to join us for this event. Don’t worry if you don’t speak German, since most people here speak and understand at least basic English.

The location: Room 154 in the “Unperfekthaus” (UpH), Friedrich-Ebert-Str. 18, 45127 Essen
The room is available to us free of charge, but only on condition that it remains open to other visitors to the building during the UnCon.
Visitors to the UpH have to pay an entrance fee which depends on how much of the food and beverages offered by the UpH they plan to consume. The minimum entry charge is currently 7.90 euros (€), which covers hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks and WLAN access. The WLAN password is printed on your receipt when you pay the entrance charge, and there are numerous self-service points throughout the building where you can help yourself to non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks.
You can also bring your own food into the building, but if you do you should also bring your own crockery and cutlery, since in this case you won’t be able to use the plates and cutlery that belong to the UpH.
(To assist in their catering planning, the UpH would also like to know how many of us plan to use their buffets, and to what extent. That’s just for your information at the moment, and we’ll clarify the details in September.)
Vegan dishes are available at the buffets, and are indicated as such.
The programme: (as it currently stands; additional items will follow when finalised)

The website is in German, will the program items be in German only?

There will be 4 readings in german speech. There will be time enough to visit other places of interest. But it will not be organised by us.
Of you like to take part, I will try to find somebody who wants to visit the same places like you. There is a website in english, dutch and German where you can read about places of interest in Essen: http://www.ruhr-Tourismus.de
And I am sure that there will be bookcrossers who wants to Go geocaching to.
Just let me know what you are interested in and I do my best to find others to be with you.
By the way : the house where the UnCon takes place is interesting too. I was a monastery in former times and is now a place to meet for variuos groups and there are studios for creative People and projects.

If I go to a Bookcrossing event, I go because I would like to attend the event. If it's to visit places, I would rather go on my own...
