There are always tons of romance book at the library Buck-A-Bag table. I'll get some tomorrow and mark a route that will take me to lots of coffee shops on the 14th. I'll get some heart shaped post-its to make "I'm not lost...I'm FREE" stickies. I'll post the release links here :-)
Since I don't read romance novels and therefore don't have any of those to release on Valentine's day, I think I'll release ROMANTIC novels...smooch smooch!! I need to release more books from my shelves and floor! I like the idea of heart-shaped post-it notes for this occasion! >(:::)
I was going to release a poetry book for Valentine's at a Greek Festival I'm going to this weekend. But I re-read the book and decided to hold off registering it and keep it a little longer! HAHA So I am going to release a romance novel or two there instead.
My grandmother donated a box and about four trash bags FULL of harliquin romances. As much as I love to read, those harliquins just don't do it for me, I can read them but Im quickly bored of them. So what I was going to do..starting monday, through next sunday, every day, I plan to release one book a day, romance genre, in places where you would go to get something for a loved one...IE-flower shop, outside a jewelry store, candy isle of walmart, etc. Then valentines day, all the popular restraunts, romance hot spots, i plan to release a couple books around those areas. I know when yer on a hot date when someone you love more than life yourself, you don't imagine being interested in books, but if one just happens to be sitting there, maybe you will pick it up. who knows. but thats just what i was planning on doing.
While snowboarding on Saturday, my friend the harvestqueen asked if we were going to "Do our Valentines Day tradition" and I asked what that was and she replied "Drink bloody Marys and release romance novels".
Oh yeah, now I remember!
Our library gives away old harlequins so I'll be scooping some up for the occasion.
On the French forum elj proposed some time ago a Valentines challenge: give a book from hand to hand to a stranger you fancy on the street (or in a cafe, or the library etc.) on the 14th. Sounds like a real challenge to me! The thread in French is here: http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/350806
I released a dozen romances and it was much harder than I thought to get them all done in the few short hours I have to myself today. They all have heart shaped post-its printed with "A Valentine Book For You!" All of them are well labeled, inside and out, with permanent stickers, too. I wasn't all that creative with where I was releasing them, though. Just wanted to get them out there and all fingers crossed that some will be caught. I bought most at a library Buck-a-Bag sale, 10 books for $1.00. Here they are, though no pictures. And speaking of pictures, some of the cover art on these books made me blush! And I am far from a prude.
ALl at the Roseville Galleria in Roseville Ca. 4 in Macy's, Irish Born in the Waterford display, (OK, so I was shopping in Macy's) One in Aveda (I was out of powder...) The GIft of Happiness was outside the GOdiva store and Season's of Glory in a planter box. :) The rest were scattered about willy-nilly.
My husband even came with me and as I was TRYING to sneak the first book into the Waterford display (hard to be sneaky on a President's Day weekend sale. THe place was PACKED) hubby loudly asks "BABE! What are you doing?"! This DESPITE knowing that the reason for the shopping excursion was to release the books. My sister whapped him and he got a PMS look from me. :) He clued in and said nothing else the rest of the day.
Now I'm tired and HOckey is on. Sharks at Columbus.
