Complete Thread
The Head Shoulders Knees and Toes (HSKT) challenge will be held again in 2021.

The rules will basically stay the same as in previous years (as set by AnOtterChaos, the original host). This explanation has been taken from previous challenge threads with minor alterations:

Open to all, you can enter at any time.

Releases must be made from 1 February to 28 February 2021 (midnight local time).

Book titles and author names count.

There are no minimum requirements for releasing. Both wild and controlled releases will be accepted, although wild releases are preferred. There will be a small prize to the person with the most releases as well as one person drawn at random from all participants who release at least one qualifying book. At the moment, I'm not sure what the prize will be but will probably be wings/membership plus. I'll be participating but will not be eligible for a prize!

The title of the book or author name must contain one or more human body part. Either medical or lay terminology is fine (i.e., shoulder-blade or scapula). Slang is OK as long as it is not offensive.

Embedded words are fine (SHINy, EARth, CHESTnut, chestNUT). (TIP: Any word with 'os' in it counts... os being used to refer to many openings in the body). The embed cannot extend from one word to another (in other words, the embed must be within a single word). If you do use embedded words, please capitalize the embed to make it easier to read (as in the examples above). Subtitles count as well as main titles.

Dual releases are fine. The Valentines Day Challenge offers some good opportunities to show your HEART!

Foreign language words are fine as long as the body part is in the same language as the title.

The challenge is on a MACROSCOPIC level, not MICROSCOPIC. In other words, "bone" is fine, "Osteocyte" isn't. No DNA, chromosome, cell, golgi body, ribosome, etc.

Things that develop throughout life are fine. This includes wrinkles, corns, scars, blisters, freckles, stretch marks, etc.

Body fluids that stay IN the body are fine (blood, lymph, bile).

Body fluids/solids that LEAVE the body are not allowed (saliva, semen, urine, feces, vomit, etc).

Please ask if you're unsure if a word will be allowed.

ACCEPTED: ab, ankle, anus, arch, arm, artery, ass, back, balls, beard, behind, belly, bile, blister, blood, body, bone, boob, bosom, bottom, braid, brain, breast, bridge, brow, bum, bun, bust, butt/buttocks, can, cap, cellulite, cheek, chest, chin, cleavage, cock, colon, corn, corona, crotch, crown, dick, digit, disc, discus, duct, ear, elbow, eye, eyebrow, face, fang, fat, finger, fist, flank, flesh, foot/feet, frame, freckle, gall, gam, gland, goosebumps, gum, guts, hair, hand, head, heart, heel, hip, ilia, implant, iris, jaw, kidney, knee, knockers, lash, lat, leg, lens, limb, lip, liver, lobe, locks, loin, marrow, member, mole, mons, moustache, mouth, muscle, nail, neck, nerve, nose, nut, organ, os, ova/ovum, ovary, pad, palate, palm, pec, penis, pin, pit, pore, pot, prick, puss, rack, rectum, rib, rocks, rump, sac, scar, scrotum, scruff, shin, shoulder, side, skeleton, skin, skull, sole, spine, spur, stretch mark, tail, teeth, thigh, throat, thumb, thyroid, tit, toe, tongue, tonsil, tooth, torso, trap, tress, trunk, vagina, vein, vertebra, waist, wart, whiskers, willie, wrinkle, wrist

NOT ACCEPTED: cell, common sense, feces, grin, ID, lap, mind, pee, soul, smile, thyself, wink

though I haven't checked at all yet if I have anything suitable... we'll see :)

Would "temple" be an accepted word?

Would "temple" be an accepted word?

I'm generally going with the idea that if you can point to it on/in your body, it's acceptable.

Here I go!

It's 1st February (or only a few hours away!). Feel free to release away!

I'd never heard of poll before as slang for head but, yes, why not?

It's an old usage but..when I thought about it, I wondered if polling came from poll - as in counting heads - and apparently the answer is yes! :)

I have had the flu. Yes, the flu not Covid. I have been down for a week and still am not strong enough to go out.

Sorry to hear this. Hope you feel better soon. Glad it's not covid, though!

Would "voice" be acceptable?

I'm going to say no to voice. I put it in the same sort of category as mind or soul - abstract concepts that are associated with the human body but not a part of it.

This is always a fun one. Thank you awaywithfairies for the challenge!

There were 11 participants in this year's challenge (including booklady331 who, we all know, is a long-standing participant in these sorts of challenges).

There were 304 releases of which almost half (140) were released by SqueakyChu alone. That's some effort, especially for this year!

The highest releaser was SqueakyChu.
The name drawn using a random number generator was keeta1.
Wings for a month will be heading to both soon.

Thanks to everyone who participated. Hope to see you all again next year!
