This is a challenge to read and release the oldest book on Mount TBR. I know that I have kept books around that I really do want to read, but there are always other books that I choose to read first. So, this poor book remains at the bottom of the pile.

To find the oldest book in your personal Mount TBR, sort the TBR books "in your hands" by registration date ascending. The first one listed should be the book that is your oldest TBR.

My oldest TBR, as of January 1, 2018, is "Waiting for the Party--The Life of Frances Hodgson Burnett".

If you find that you truly do not want to read this book, then mark it available and discover what your oldest TBR truly is.

After you have read your oldest TBR, please post the name of the book and link to this book on this forum thread. Then you can then read your new oldest TBR book. This challenge is for the year 2018. Please join anytime during the year.

as I really want to read some of the books that have been on the shelves for years!

My oldest is Harm Done by Ruth Rendell - registered in 2009, which I will read as soon as I'm done with the books that I have promised in the tag games :)

Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11343844/

This year I have made a decision to mainly read previously bookcrossed books so I may not be posting here at all - who knows though maybe the next oldest will be a Bookcrossed book :)

This has been a TBR since June 2008. It is also on the 1001 books list which is another challenge I am doing this year.

I have never read "Lolita" but I read "Reading Lolita in Tehran" and "Lolita" is heavily analyzed in "Reading Lolita in Tehran". If you haven't read "Reading Lolita in Tehran", maybe you will find it interesting.

Finished "Atomised" by Michel Houellebecq

TBR since July 2008. This is another one from the 1001 list. I think I registered several books from the list back in 2008 that I never got to. This one was quite depressing but thought provoking. I currently have it listed in the Literature VBB.

I recently watched a PBS TV program on Teddy Roosevelt and I found it quite interesting.

Promise, Texas by Debbie Macomber http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/7206199/

Why I had this #7 in the series long after I read the first 6, I have no idea. But it had a who's who list in the front, so it worked out.

I am very impressed with the number of books that people have read so far this year. I am still reading "Waiting for the Party--The Life of Frances Hodgson Burnett". It is quite interesting but a slow read. I am enjoying learning about life in the second half of the nineteenth century.

Here are the stats for January 2018:
booklady331--1 book (Mornings on Horseback by David McCullough)
Diane-Fraser--1 book (Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs)
Kingfan30--1 book (Children of Dune by Frank Herbert)
Keeta1--1 book (Harm Done by Ruth Rendell)
NancyNova--5 books (The Last Cowboy Hero by Barbara McMahon, Wide Open Spaces by Roz Denny Fox, Looking for Sophie by Roz Denny Fox, Montana Mavericks by Susan Mallery et al, Promise, Texas by Debbie Macomber)
perryfran--2 books (Lolita by Vladimir Nabakov, Atomized by Michel Houellebecq)

Totals: 6 bookcrossers, 11 oldest TBRs read
