Great Pete the Cat release!

Tonight we visited the town of Owen Sound for the Festival of Northern Lights, which is pretty much another holiday lights display. It also has fireworks, but only on certain nights. Anyway, I released an anthology-style Christmas book this time, called "The Night Before Christmas and Other Holiday Tales."

On the way home from Owen Sound tonight I left a book called The Word for Home, which set in Newfoundland, on the patio of a pub/restaurant called The Goofy Newfie. Sadly we didn't get there in time to actually go to the restaurant, but there were still patrons and staff inside so hopefully someone found it on their way out... or will find it tomorrow!

This past weekend I released a book called The Last Days of Night, which is about the "current war" of AC vs DC in the late 1800s. I left it on a bench by a statue of Nikola Tesla in Niagara Falls, New York. The statue was getting a ton of attention from tourists while we were there, so hopefully the book wasn't alone for too long.

I released a copy of Stardust over the weekend. Since it's the Christmas season and starry decor is frequently a part of that, I was hoping to find a nice big star decoration by which to leave the book. I didn't find a star on its own, but I found a spot on the upper level of a shopping centre that had a bank of massage chairs with a great view of the big star on top of the mall's Christmas tree. This spot happened to be outside of a movie theatre, and since Stardust is a book-turned-movie, it added a secondary theme to the release as well.

I left "Ghost Stories of Christmas" in a Christmassy little gazebo this afternoon. There were twinkle lights strung around the inside of the gazebo and there was a lovely tree... it was quite a beautiful place! The book is in the background of the release photo; it's in a blue bag sitting on the bench at the right of the photo.

I love Christmas lights.

Looks like you are having a lot of fun with your themed releases. :)

I am! I've always liked themed releases. Last year I dedicated my bookcrossing activity to Canadian stories in honour of the sesquicentennial of our Confederation, and I ended up doing way more releases in 2017 than I've managed in other years. Since we were also trying to see/do/experience a lot of Canadian stuff, I was able to do a lot of themed releases... and now it's hard to go back to normal ones, lol. It may not always be practical for me to theme my releases, but if I can manage it, that's my preference!

Dress Theme
Today I did my last release of the year, and it was themed. I left a book called "Rebel in a Dress: Adventurers" outside of a shop called La Creme. La Creme sells special occasion gowns and party dresses, and outside they had a "dress" made of seasonal greenery on display. I left the book in a protective bag, propped on the windowsill behind/next to the dress.
