Welcome to the challenge!!!

I’m at least the third hostess for this weekly challenge, which has been continuous for many, many years.

GUIDELINES AND RULES:

Each Saturday (or on occasion on Friday) a book cover is posted as the theme for the coming week. The object is to find books with the themed cover for the week and release them within the week. For instance, the week’s theme might be cover with a pen showing on the cover (modern or quill) or the word pen within the title of the book; or the colors yellow and pink showing on the cover; or authors named Christopher.

Sometimes we will have a “Mystery Namer” – someone other than me who will set up the challenge. Just PM me if you would like to be a “Mystery Namer” and let me know which week you would like to do so.

1) Saturday (in US and Canada) is the overlap day when either the previous week's cover can be released or the new cover can be released. FOR EUROPE, Sunday is the overlap day.

2) Both the front and the back of the book are considered “the cover,” so pictures on the back are acceptable.

3) Any kind of release is OK but only catches from wild releases will count.

4) Each person must keep track of their releases each week which must be posted here with a link to the JE. PLEASE DO NOT go back and edit a previous post and add more releases to it, but make a new post for releases of any given week.

5) If you wild release a book and it gets caught then you have a release counted and a catch counted. However, if the person who caught the book releases it and it gets caught again - that's not another catch for you since you didn't do the second release.

6) When you have a cover which could work for 2 consecutive weeks, then you must to decide which week to count it for as a release (remember that it’s only one book and can only be counted once).

7) Anyone is welcome to join this challenge at any time and you can participate as much as you like. You can begin on Week 1 or Week 31 or Week 51, whichever suits you.

IF YOU DON’T WISH TO BE A MYSTERY NAMER, YOU CAN SEND ME SUGGESTIONS FOR BOOK COVERS! I will periodically use them.

Author Names J, A, or N (beginning, middle, last).

A very Happy New Year to all!

And a very Happy New Year to you, Secretariat!!! Thanks for hosting again!!! : )

Somehow it made it's way from Kulpsville to Emmaus. I know the wilds in that OBCZ leave (because they're gone when I make the next stock trip), but nice to know they are doing a bit of traveling too.

Happy hunting.

Sweet...have been waiting for this to come back around, so I could do my release on Martin Luther King Way that I didn't get to do last year. ; ) THANKS again for hosting, Secretariat! : ) I'm hoping to put my releases along the Parade Route. ; )

That's really funny, that your sister found it in the wild. : )

Hmm... looking...

What about other road-like words in the title - street, highway, lane, avenue, etc?

Goes back to looking for pictures of roads..

A good weekend to all, I hope.

Ok, I found some. Having issues with the site though, so registering them may be tricky.

No, I don't think you'll need it. In my search there were lots of books picturing a road somewhere on the cover. Let me know if I'm wrong and I'll reconsider.

That's fine; you're the boss. :)

It was just that _initially_ I couldn't find any pics and I kept finding other words but not "road" so I was frustrated..

Just release german books. The word for "road" and "street" is the same in German ;)

Not that I have any books in German at the moment...but Google says it's what I suspected - Straße - is that right? :)

Yes. See also my first release for this week, http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/14333322 ;)

"Straße" is basically everything you can and may drive on with a four-wheeled motorized vehicle, from the smallest residential streets to motorways. The other word is "Weg" (=way), which includes footpaths, cycleways or agricultural or forest tracks (which are often unpaved and almost always usually closed for public motorized traffic anyway).

Of course we also have a few other words for specific types, like "Allee" (a road with trees lined up at the side) or "Gasse" (a narrow street in a settlement, usually in historical town centers) - but "Straße" and "Weg" together cover everything anyway.

A STAMPEDE of 16 Horses released on the fence of a neighborhood horse pasture as a Happy Sweet 16 Valentine Birthday Memoriam! In addition to the covers having RED and/or PINK on them somewhere (still need to finish adding individual details as to where in each book's Journal Entries...as this was a midnight release project), each book also had a yellow Ballycumber Travelling Book Sticker on the front, a bright PINK "Free Book" sticky note that I made, and a Bookmark size cut of white ribbon with a metallic PINK foil heart design that matches the PINK color and design on the Becky's Hugs Bookplates I'm using for my releases (see JE). ; ) I put each book in a plastic bag (I need to order more BC Release Bags when I order supplies today!) with a twist tie holding a length of RED curling ribbon, which I then turned into a loop, so I could hang each book by one of 16 fence posts across the long pasture fence. My sincere apologies for waking up the entire group of goats...at least a dozen, but it was too dark to tell, or get a picture, even with my headlights on. I didn't realize they spent the night in the pasture. They came running to the fence to "greet me", most likely thinking I had carrots to share. They snubbed me when realizing that I only had plastic and paper. ; ) Good thing I thought better of including the little milk chocolate crunch heart I had for each bag. I decided that putting food into the bags, especially chocolate, would not be a good idea. I didn't want any animals getting sick on it, and I didn't want the parents of the school children who will hopefully find the books on the way to and from school today to worry that something undesirable might be in the candy. Very sad one has to be concerned with such things these days.

I've been able to get some of the Book Covers for this Series that I scanned to upload, so you can see not only the cover image now, but also the Ribbon Bookmark included in all of Becky's releases this year (to the left of the image). ; )

Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/13865149/ Nice pink pastry with red berries!

On Monday in the U. S. we celebrate the leader of our country. Our cover should have the picture of any U. S. President or the last name of any U. S. President (Jackson, Washington, Buchanan, Grant, etc.) . For the first time ever I am allowing you to use the names of the author for the names as well. Be sure that the spelling is correct for the president you intend. Our current president doesn't spell well, but I expect you to do so.

Happy hunting and wishing you a wonderful weekend.
