2016 Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Release Challenge, 3rd Quarter

Welcome to the challenge!!!

I’m at least the third hostess for this weekly challenge, which has been continuous for many, many years.

GUIDELINES AND RULES:

Each Saturday (or on occasion on Friday) a book cover is posted as the theme for the coming week. The object is to find books with the themed cover for the week and release them within the week. For instance, the week’s theme might be cover with a pen showing on the cover (modern or quill) or the word pen within the title of the book; or the colors yellow and pink showing on the cover; or authors named Christopher.

Sometimes we will have a “Mystery Namer” – someone other than me who will set up the challenge. Just PM me if you would like to be a “Mystery Namer” and let me know which week you would like to do so.

1) Saturday (in US and Canada) is the overlap day when either the previous week's cover can be released or the new cover can be released. FOR EUROPE, Sunday is the overlap day.

2) Both the front and the back of the book are considered “the cover,” so pictures on the back are acceptable.

3) Any kind of release is OK but only catches from wild releases will count.

4) Each person must keep track of their releases each week which must be posted here with a link to the JE. PLEASE DO NOT go back and edit a previous post and add more releases to it, but make a new post for releases of any given week.

5) If you wild release a book and it gets caught then you have a release counted and a catch counted. However, if the person who caught the book releases it and it gets caught again - that's not another catch for you since you didn't do the second release.

6) When you have a cover which could work for 2 consecutive weeks, then you must to decide which week to count it for as a release (remember that it’s only one book and can only be counted once).

7) Anyone is welcome to join this challenge at any time and you can participate as much as you like. You can begin on Week 1 or Week 31 or Week 51, whichever suits you.

IF YOU DON’T WISH TO BE A MYSTERY NAMER, YOU CAN SEND ME SUGGESTIONS FOR BOOK COVERS! I will periodically use them.

Uppity, I believe you may have misunderstood the theme. The idea is to release books about books, the word BOOK is not necessarily part of the release, though the book released indeed include that word. The book must be about a book store, book shop, or about books themselves (sales, production, editing, etc.) If the two books you just released are about books, then all good, but the titles don't leave that impression.

Oh, I misunderstood too. Guess I'll put these books back on the shelf, as the word "book" alone won't do it. : (

Um, •people• reading or involved with books/bookstores only, or if I can find a copy of The Tale of Despereaux (for example), would a mouse who reads - which is important to the story - count?

(Where's Alex Plumtree, book publisher, when I need him?)

Despereaux is one of my favorite books, so it would definitely count. It doesn't have to be a human reading, though that's the most probable we will find.

Oh, goodie. Then this adorable book I'm reading now should count too. :D

Right now the mouse has fallen so far into the story he's reading that he's interacting directly with the protagonist. :)

How cute is that. I'll have to look it up.

I recently finished The Wild Robot, which was recommended by another BCer who works for the library and, like me, loves children's, juvenile, and young adult books. It was wonderful. Highly recommended.

I am a speed reader, however, I am reading 11 books at the same time and I am very competitive! Oh well, the game is afoot.

Whoa, you've got me beat. I sometimes have 3 or 4 (currently 1 e-book and 2 paper - catching up on podcasts instead of an audiobook at the moment) but 11 is a LOT!

(Wait, I forgot about the graphic novel. So I guess I'm reading 4 right now.)

Have been Wild Releasing a few books here and there in between doctor appointments, people passing away, and all of the other things we all deal with on a daily basis in these overly busy big city lives we have, but in dealing with PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety on top of everything else (at least that's what I'm told...I would never in a million years imagined so), I am way behind on posting releases, and also in making release notes to be able TO post releases. Am hoping to get caught up with that during the next week or so, and I know among others, I have some for "2nd Quarter Re-Do" week from a month ago already today...where does the time go? Will you want me to post any Second Quarter Releases in that thread, Secretariat, and then let you know here? Or will it be more convenient for you to have them all (2nd and 3rd Quarter Releases) posted here in this thread in one organized listing? Apologizing ahead of time for any inconvenience my late postings will create for you.

Edited to add...There's only a dozen or so books total, so it's not a huge list. ; )

Bookworm---I understand your dilemma completely. I've had two major surgeries in the past year with two more coming up. I'm trying to release, but I am home bound unless my Mom takes me out. It sucks! Praying for you! I'm still going to BC whenever I can!

BC is a most welcomed port in the storm! : D

I've been frequenting the Fun and Games Forum, because one of the most frustrating parts for me is not being able to be as physically active (I even had to give up my gardening last year), and now I am unable to read as much, because I also have worsening eye issues. During my last visit with my Opthamologist he suggested amniotic membrane stem cell lenses being used to try to heal eye some of the issues without having a surgery done where you are laying flat on your stomach for 6 weeks afterwards. Don't think I'm too keen on trying this fairly new stem cell treatment option, and certainly not the surgery. This growing old stuff is DEFinitely for the birds!

My thoughts and prayers are with you as well, spazcat.

So sorry to hear of your problems, but glad to have you back with us, even if only if only intermittently. Please take care of yourself first! Put release notes here, because it's where we all tend to be and then everyone can see your success under such trying circumstances. I applaud your every effort. Wishes for much improved health.
