A-Z authors challenge

This is a very relaxed challenge, no strict rules - I'm using it to get myself reading again, I've done it before and find it encourages me to read books that have been on Mt TBR for a long time or authors I wouldn't otherwise try...

So the challenge is simply to work your way through the alphabet by author's surname, releasing as you go (again, no strict order for releases!)

here are mine...

A - Vinegar Hill, A Manette ANSAY, http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/13790140

It's a lot harder to release e-books and audio downloads, though. :s

How so? I left mine on a sofa table at the Cardiologist's Office.

Because they don't exist physically at all, just on my device, so I can't register or release them. (But sometimes that's the easiest way to access a particular book or author.)

And even physical audiobooks have always seemed a bit iffy to me when it comes to wild releasing - it's a more limited audience, since you have to have the right type of player (CD, cassette, etc.).

Yeah I don't think I would consider wild releasing audiobooks. Not only because of the type of player, leaving CDs and cassettes dotted about just doesn't 'feel' right to me. I guess there may be some ideal releasing locations for them however i think I'll stick to passing on in person.

HAHAHAHAHA! : D

TOO FUNNY, Hypen8! : ) My eyes only picked up the "AUDIO" portion of the "audio downloads" you mentioned when I read it the first time and posted "how so?". I can "see" why you wouldn't be able to release e-books and audio downloads now. : D

Thanks for your input...and yours as well, Diane-Frasier.

Personally, I don't think leaving a physical audio book is any more limiting than releasing...or not releasing...specific book genres in specific places. There is a Bookworm in us all : )...and if a book of any type draws the attention of the one who is meant to have it, they may consider it a great blessing, or know someone to share it with or pass it forward to that would consider it a blessing. ; )

and you diane-fraser! Got busy with the referendum in 2014 and then I don't really know what happened to 2015. I've been studying again, that's the trouble! Plus I now work in a building that also houses the council library, so I read a lot of library books. I have a tendency to (accidentally) wild release them on the bus so BC books are safer...

So the challenge is simply to work your way through the alphabet by author's surname, releasing as you go (again, no strict order for releases!)

Is this a read & release challenge, or just a release challenge? (One is much harder than the other!)

Entirely up to participants. I intend to read and release but if I'm not enjoying a book I will just release it!

In that case, since I'm already doing CathrineB's Authors A-Z – 2016 reading challenge - http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/526680 - I'll use this one for releases. Not to say that I won't read some of the books I'll list here, but I definitely won't read all of them.

I think it is intended to be both. At least, that's how I'm using it. I'll post the title and author when I've read the book and add the link when it's released.
Profile Image
I'll add the names here as I release the books.
Decided to try to go with books I've read at some time, not necessarily in 2016. I'll also try to use surnames as much as I can.

I'm adding the titles and authors to my first post above. And add the link when they are also released. : )

I think I'll start on a B tonight.

ETA: Nope. I put the B aside. And read an R author instead. And just started on an M this morning.

so far. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8650346

The problem is, I keep reading a book, then going to the list and finding out, Oh, I already read a C author. Actually I keep on reading C authors and T authors, even though those are already checked off my list. What a dope.

I've got to get in the habit of looking at my list first before starting a new book. But I doubt that will happen. If a book happens to catch my eye, well... it's already too late to say No.

then I'll have the complete alphabet.

I listened to that as an audiobook: it was a riot! I usually enjoy his books quite a lot (loved Redshirts and Old Man's War). Hoping to see him next month at HawaiiCon. :)

YOU CAN DO IT, booklady331! : D

I am doing the same thing you are, and while it is a S.L.O.W. process, especially with added health issues, I am about halfway through. If borrowed Library books counted (I am "reading again"' & technically they are "released" back to the Library when one is done reading them : D), I think I'd be closer to the finish line! ; )

Slow but steady wins the race!!! ; )

For what it's worth, there's also an A-Z _reading_ challenge, and your library books would defnitely work for that. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/526680

A, N, U, V, and X still to go, and I haven't found the appropriate book for any of those letters yet.

and I've only found one of those, an A, which I just started reading.

Still need an N, V and X author. I've read U but it won't be released yet as it fits November's Ultimate Challenge.
