2016 Wishlist Challenge

Dear BCers - in 2015, we granted 208 Wishlist wishes! That's putting a lot of books directly into the hands of folks who really wanted them...can we do it again? Can we grant more wishes this year, say 250...maybe even 300? I've sent off two wishes so far in 2016 so that leaves just 298 wishes to go!

Here are the "rules":
I would like to challenge BCers to make more wishlist offers - wild releasing is still at the heart of what we do, but how cool to occasionally put a book right into the hands of someone you KNOW is looking for it?!

THE CHALLENGE: set your personal goal - I'll be trying to send a wishlist book to a BCer once a month (if not more) and will post the book and recipient here. You might just do it once, a few times in 2016 or something regular like once a month. At the end of the year (2016) I will put your name in the hat for every wish you fulfilled (so you get more entries the more wishes you fulfill) and you'll receive either a month of wings or a variety of labels. I will also randomly select a participant (so it won't matter if you did it once or a dozen times) to receive the same little prize.

Start adding to YOUR wishlist! You never know - you might be a recipient of a wish as well as a participant! Just jump in and start listing the Wishes you've fulfilled!

I do that but forgot to log in your post in 2015. Adding a reminder to my overall tracking spreadsheet, so hopefully will remember better this year!

We had 20 BCers playing, surely we can get at least half that back..?

I just finished 1776 by David McCullough a few days ago - and I'm not sure if the person I PMed is very active in BookCrossing, as I haven't heard back from her yet - but I'll give it a couple weeks and then try somebody else.....

I've routinely checked wishlists because I'd rather RABCK than wild release anyway. Although I'll only commit to one a month, there are pretty good odds of me granting two or three during at least some of the months this year.....

BTW I remember you RABCKed me a book a long time ago, SCOUT-FINCH, and I'm racking my brain trying to remember the title of it - it was about a family living in Montana on a ranch, with kids living in another town because the school was too far for them to ride to every day.

BigJohn, I don't know how I missed your comment - and that book also doesn't ring a bell about a ranch family in Montana....? hmmmm..maybe it was something I didn't actually read before passing it on ;-)

... but the person (the only one) who had my book on her wish list had a note on her profile to please not send her any books! :-( Aw...

Yay, more players!! I've been down and out with some awful cough thing for a week - this just cheered me up! (it's the little things sometimes ;-)

Well, I didn't achieve my goal last year, so in 2016 I'll try to fulfill at least those 4 (missing) wishes :)

I will aim for 24 this year.

I'm ahead of last year at this time - I have three wishes granted this month...though I just donated four bags of books to the library book sale and could only find three wishlist books in all those books...I must have obscure (or just weird?) taste?!

I must have obscure (or just weird?) taste?!

That may or may not be true, SCOUT-FINCH! : ) When I had no luck finding BCers that were wishing for at LEAST a dozen different books so far this month, I turned to your Wishlist and STILL no luck...as yet ; ) I am tenacious, however, and will keep trying, so we can meet your goal of at least 250 - 300 books this year! : )

I feel that way too...no one seems to want the books I read...LOL!!! I think we need more active bookcrossing members. I think people need to make longer wishlists.

1. The Good German by Joseph Kanon KTM 6/7/13 from Erishkigal to grubsneerg

Personal goal of 24

I have a goal of at least 10.

Seems as though a great many BCers have a great many Wishlists requests, but are no longer active BCers, so this reply has taken me all month long...13th try was a charm! Just in the nick of time, too! My personal goal is one RABCK and one WISHLIST per month for 2016. ; ) This one's my January Wishlist release off to JennyC1230 in Woodstock, Georgia for Valentine's Day...ENJOY!

1. Kiss of Fate (A Dragonfire Novel, Book 3) by Deborah Cooke...Multiple Challenges

I think I will set a goal of 7 for the year.

WHOO HOOO! Just had time to check my email after a few days, and found a PM from sha, who received her Wishlist books, and the box of books I sent for her Little Free Library to help her celebrate having recently registered book number 11,002! Able to grant a wish (it's been a while) - a surprise book is off to tomato68!

After You'd Gone http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8654643/ off to MrsJones

Now would be the time to either spruce up your Wish List if you haven't tended to it in a while - perhaps a BCer will be taking a look at it to see if they can gift you an end-of-the-year Wish....OR...it's also the time to grant any last minute wishes before the end of the year!

As a reminder: At the end of the year (2016) I will put your name in the hat for every wish you fulfilled (so you get more entries the more wishes you fulfill) and you'll receive either a month of wings or a variety of labels. I will also randomly select a participant (so it won't matter if you did it once or a dozen times) to receive the same little prize.

Happy Holidays! Happy Wishing! Happy Wish-fulfilling!

Well, with soooo many ongoing health issues to deal with for the Veteran I take care of and myself, I wasn't able to meet my goal of at least "One Wish a Month" for 2016 (I only managed 3), so I am going to set the same goal for 2017!!! ; ) HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!! : )

A very belated follow-up (or sum-up) to this Challenge - and a warm thank you to all who participated! Our winners were Poodlesister and tomato68, but you really made everyone a winner when you filled one of their wishes, didn't you? (feeling a bit sappy at the moment) I have my hands full right now with some family obligations so didn't feel I could run this Challenge for another year. Maybe I'll bring it back in '18 or someone will take it over.

Thanks for playing!
