Welcome to the challenge!!!

I’m at least the third hostess for this weekly challenge, which has been continuous for many, many years.

GUIDELINES AND RULES:

Each Saturday (or on occasion on Friday) a book cover is posted as the theme for the coming week. The object is to find books with the themed cover for the week and release them within the week. For instance, the week’s theme might be cover with a pen showing on the cover (modern or quill) or the word pen within the title of the book; or the colors yellow and pink showing on the cover; or authors named Christopher.

Sometimes we will have a “Mystery Namer” – someone other than me who will set up the challenge. Just PM me if you would like to be a “Mystery Namer” and let me know which week you would like to do so.

1) Saturday (in US and Canada) is the overlap day when either the previous week's cover can be released or the new cover can be released. FOR EUROPE, Sunday is the overlap day.

2) Both the front and the back of the book are considered “the cover,” so pictures on the back are acceptable.

3) Any kind of release is OK but only catches from wild releases will count.

4) Each person must keep track of their releases each week which must be posted here with a link to the JE. PLEASE DO NOT go back and edit a previous post and add more releases to it, but make a new post for releases of any given week.

5) If you wild release a book and it gets caught then you have a release counted and a catch counted. However, if the person who caught the book releases it and it gets caught again - that's not another catch for you since you didn't do the second release.

6) When you have a cover which could work for 2 consecutive weeks, then you must to decide which week to count it for as a release (remember that it’s only one book and can only be counted once).

7) Anyone is welcome to join this challenge at any time and you can participate as much as you like. You can begin on Week 1 or Week 31 or Week 51, whatever suits you.

IF YOU DON’T WISH TO BE A MYSTERY NAMER, YOU CAN SEND ME SUGGESTIONS FOR BOOK COVERS! I will periodically use them.

Our first challenge for the second quarter of 2015 is:

Titles With Rhyming Words

This one's not going to be easy, but I found in my box, one which seems to fit, but happy hunting.

The only ones I could find for this were the same word repeated twice.

1. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/12916695 "Ties That Bind, Ties That Break"
2. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/13137807 "All-Time Any Time Recipes"
3. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/12916906 "An Island Out of Time: A Memoir of Smith Island in the Chesapeake"

That works. The only book I've found has Red and Dead in the title.

2. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/13271220 That Mad Bad Badger

I found none. I hit the used book store for kids books last night, as they often have rhyming titles, and got a few.

This is what bookcrossing is all about. This book which was first published decades ago, I believe it was in the 1980s, was given a new life, twice.

Names of Countries in the Title. NOTE: It must be the correct name of the country -- NOT America for the United States or Italian for Italy. You can have both Britian and England because both are correct. You can reference the names of countries in the past which have either changed their names or where it has been absorbed and the country has ceased to exist.

I just used them all up in the March 2015 Oh, the Places We Can Go Release Challenge!

I just used them all up in the March 2015 Oh, the Places We Can Go Release Challenge!

Thanks for the reminder. I had Germany left over, plus 4 states/rivers I didn't use. I'm afraid I didn't even think of the timing when I set this one. I filled out the first 18 weeks of the 2015 NJABBIC year in December so I wouldn't have to worry about it for awhile. Which reminds me that I need to get busy figuring out some more weeks.

I had Germany left over, plus 4 states/rivers I didn't use.

but just the Germany works for this week, right?

And I did remember that I found one (Japan) right after the Challenge ended. So I've got one book here. And a visit to Goodwill was already scheduled for tomorrow...

I just used them all up in the March 2015 Oh, the Places We Can Go Release Challenge!

Same here :)

However, thank's to the rather early post, I could pick up a few books when dropping a bagful into a public bookshelf which was on my route this morning.

Yeah, it's as if Sec didn't know we'd do that..for her challenge. :p

2. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/13283310 - Once upon a time in MALAYA

Not only did most of my place books go traveling last month, but I just this week committed one of the leftovers (Denmark) to a VBB. Sigh.

You can reference the names of countries in the past which have either changed their names or where it has been absorbed and the country has ceased to exist.

Based on the above, both Texas and Hawaii would qualify, right? They were both independent countries at one point.

Secretariat, I am holding you responsible: I ended the day with 42 more books than when I started! Since I didn't have any country books handy, I *had* to visit the nearest thrift shop. They have a fill-a-bag-for-$5 room. Q.E.D. - it's your fault. :p

Sorry, I've been taking a few days off and got my days mixed and didn't realize it until I was out doing my errands.

This week's challenge - And they go two by two (and only two) -- a picture showing two of the same something -- two lions, geese, swans, kids, women, lynxes, bicycles, men, skates, etc. There can be other things in the picture, but it must be clear that there are only two of whatever it is you designate for the link.

Have fun.

Titles Upside Down and Sideways. Titles must be arranged in something other than the usual horizontal.

As someone else said in some other week: Putting back the challenge in "challenge".

After looking through about 20 metres of german books, I found a... question. Which is: How much tilt is necessary? I didn't find anything except one or two where the title is printed slightly diagonally but only by a few degrees - so still _almost_ horizontally.

(I found one among the first metre of english books, and I'm certainly not done searching.)

Titles Upside Down and Sideways. Titles must be arranged in something other than the usual horizontal.

I agree this one's not easy. I've decided to amend it so that if you have either certain letters tilted or the entire title tilted it is acceptable. I'll come back and give you some examples that work for me.

Found a couple where the orientation of the title is unusual in some way:

1. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/12278118 "Firestorm" letters are "tilted" so that the title seems to be emerging from the page
2. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/12916767 "Lost and Found" title is on a curved scroll

I hope these count.

Flower names in the title. Just the picture of a flower is NOT acceptable. The name of a flower must be in the title.

Happy Mother's Day to all those Moms out there!

Arggghhh. The 2015 April Showers/May Flowers wild-release challenge has been going on since April 15th (till May 15th) and I just released my last books tonight. Not one single flower name left in the house.

I sense a trip to the used book store coming up.

Yeah, I had to dig a bit; that's twice that Sec's overlapped challenges from GoryDetails recently! They must be on similar wavelengths. :)
