Welcome to the challenge!!!

I’m at least the third hostess for this weekly challenge, which has been continuous for many, many years.

GUIDELINES AND RULES:

Each Saturday a book cover is posted as the theme for the coming week. The object is to find books with the themed cover for the week and release them within the week. For instance, the week’s theme might be cover with a pen showing on the cover (modern or quill) or the word pen within the title of the book; or the colors yellow and pink showing on the cover; or authors named Christopher.

Sometimes we will have a “Mystery Namer” – someone other than me who will set up the challenge. Just PM me if you would like to be a “Mystery Namer” and let me know which week you would like to do so.

1) Saturday is overlap day when either the previous week's cover can be released or the new cover can be released. FOR EUROPE, Sunday is the overlap day.
2) Both the front and the back of the book are considered “the cover,” so pictures on the back are acceptable.
3) Any kind of release is OK but only catches from wild releases will count.
4) Each person must keep track of their releases each week which must be posted here with a link to the JE. PLEASE DO NOT go back and edit a previous post and add more releases to it, but make a new post for releases of any given week.
5) If you wild release a book and it gets caught then you have a release counted and a catch counted. However, if the person who caught the book releases it and it gets caught again - that's not another catch for you since you didn't do the second release.
6) When you have a cover which could work for 2 consecutive weeks, then you must to decide which week to count it for as a release (remember that it’s only one book and can only be counted once).
7) Anyone is welcome to join this challenge at any time and you can participate as much as you like. You can begin on Week 1 or Week 31 or Week 51, whatever suits you.

IF YOU DON’T WISH TO BE A MYSTERY NAMER, YOU CAN ALWAYS SEND ME SUGGESTIONS FOR BOOK COVERS! I will periodically use them.

Titles with rhyming words. Sorry, I have no examples, but we've done this one before and I'm sure someone will come in with examples for you. Good luck.

Would this be considered a rhyming title?

http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/12592955/

Works for me.

I have literally 100's of books here (mom owned a used book store) and can't find 1 book for this challenge :(

Did you include "same word twice" into your considerations? At least in my stock this seems to be more common than having to different rhyming words. About 1 or 2 % of my AVL seem to be valid. However, most will stay in stock. I haven't released much at all, nor will be doing in the time remaining of this week.

Sha and ekorren -- I just allowed Mary, Mary for SLT, so ekorren's title works.

books again.

Something a little easier -- titles words with double letters: i.e., Three, Street, Still, Kelly, Lennox, Too -- those words are just taken from the 7 books sitting next to my computer (none of which will be used because I haven't read any of them).

Have fun.

Had to resort to Goodwill for this one; I feel a bit better seeing that I'm not the only one who struggled with it. I did find two with repeated words and one other actual rhyming title, but since they were all TBR, I didn't want to let them go..

I had a few more books available. However, most of them weren't of the "Want to get rid of this to free up space" category, and there was no occasion that made me releasing any of the others. I had planned a trip to Switzerland (and would have released a bag full there). But due to an error of someone at the bus company, the special offer couldn't be booked for the destination I wanted, so I cancelled that trip.

I ended up with releasing only three matching books. Here they are.

Did you consider that there may be titles where it is not definitely sure whether they have a double letter or not? Guess not. So, here we go, there's that weirdness with the german letter "ß" - which only exists in certain circumstances and often is replaced by "ss":

* The "ß" is only used in Germany and Austria but not in Switzerland. Swiss people use "ss".

* The "ß" only exists as a lowercase letter. If you write capital letters, use "SS" instead (NB: this does not affect word beginnings since the ß can't occur as first letter of a word).

* About 15 years ago, some spelling rules were changed. A good number of words which were written with "ß" before are written with "ss" now.

* Irrelevant but also weird: There is no name for the character "ß". You can't really spell it out letter-by-letter (there actually are several names which are used but easily lead to confusion because hardly anyone knows and spontaneously understands them all)

Well... that actually means: The same book title can occur with a double letter or not, depending on how old the book is, where it was published, and whether the title is written in capital letters. Especially the latter may lead to the result that a book would be valid by looking at the front cover and not valid if you look on the spine or inside...

I resolved that for me this way: I'm going by how it is spelled on the front cover of the actual copy. I hope everyone is fine with that :)

I gathered up 5 (count 'em, five) bags of books with double letters!!

So, of course, my Internet connection didn't work Monday and Tuesday, and my cell phone battery was almost dead and my charger was amongst the missing (lost, or I think, stolen) so I couldn't even try to register on my phone.

I spent an hour on the phone with my Internet provider, and I bought a new charger, and I'm trying to make up for lost time tonight so I can start releasing tomorrow. : )

I gathered up 5 (count 'em, five) bags of books with double letters!!

Note how this doesn't give any hint about the size of the bags :P

I just wanted to keep you guessing : )

I don't know how to describe the size of the bags, but...

when I was done with what I could get registered, and when I had pulled out a few for the following week, I unloaded the rest and counted them.

I had 79 books in there that did NOT get registered in time for that week. I sure hope there will be an end of quarter re-do this time!

: )

What a frustration. There you are with all those great books to release and you're hamstringed by technology. Somewhere there was a technology God laughing!

Solittletime, you sure are a serious bookcrosser. I do know the size of your bags you carry around full of books, I remember it well from the Toronto convention. You are one lady that does not have to go to the gym.

Hear, hear! Too many to release - great!

I used to climb our fig & mango trees - not very high, but fun. We still have the mango, but the termites got the fig. :s

I haven't updated the charts for some time and due to continuing ill health I can't make a commitment to do so for the immediate future.

If anyone would like to take over and would like to PM with their email address I can email the Excel spreadsheet I started at the beginning of the year to them, or if someone would like to use another format that's fine by me.

Sorry.

Davros, I'm so sorry that you have been ill. Take care of yourself.

Davros, we enjoy having the spreadsheet and appreciate your work on it, but your health is more important.

Your well being is the most important thing, prayers and hugs for a speedy recovery!

{{{{{Davros}}}}} So sorry to hear that you've not been well. As said, the chart isn't important, your health and friendship with all of us is. The chart was merely a bonus. I know that not feeling your best sucks! Wishing you the very speediest recovery.

Take good care of yourself, Davros. I hope things will be looking up for you very soon.
