Here are the rules for the challenge:
1. Books written by Canadian citizens or landed immigrants count.
2. Books set in Canada even if they are not written by Canadians count.
3. Books must be wild-released but I will allow OBCZ releases as well.
5. Anyone can join.
6. There will be prizes distributed as follows:
a) Prize for most books released in Canada
b) Prize for the most books released outside of Canada
c) Prize for best release location
d) Prize for most books reflecting the special theme released by one releaser
e) Prize drawn at random from the Canadian participants
f) Prize drawn at random from the non-Canadian participants
g) Prize drawn one month after end of challenge for best catch
h) Some just because prizes
The special theme for this year is books by or about Margaret Laurence or books about cancer. That could be fact-based books or it could be fiction in which a character has cancer or any other link you can draw to cancer (maybe even a book about the astrological sign). Remember, though, these books have to be written by a Canadian or take place in Canada.
Last year there were 840 books released which was quite an increase from the previous year. I'm hoping to see an increase from that number.
Please indicate in your post if a release is for the special theme or if you have tried to do a themed release for a book and are trying for the best location prize. You MUST give the link for the release and if you can indicate in the subject line what day and the number of releases that will be a big help to me.
