Having seen this challenge kicking around, I have decided to give it a go myself.
Starting at midnight of January 1st 2011, and finishing at 11:59pm on December 31st 2011, I shall be challenging myself to the 6 books, 6 countries, 6 continents - Reading Challenge.
The challenge consists of:
You have to read 6 books which are set in OR are written by an author from 6 different countries in each of the 6 continents within the 12 month period of the 1st day of 2001 and the last.
The 6 continents are:
AFRICA
ASIA (INCL. MIDDLE EAST & S.E. ASIA)
OCEANIA
EUROPE
NORTH AMERICA (INCL. CENTRAL AMERICA & THE CARIBBEAN)
SOUTH AMERICA
So...for example:
ASIA (INCL. MIDDLE EAST & S.E. ASIA)
Book 1.Japan, Book 2.Saudi Arabia, Book 3.China, Book 4.India, Book 5.Afghanistan
*NB You cannot count books of the same country twice
It'd be nice to have others join me in this challenge, however (my game = my rules!), there can be no book / author / title mentioned in the thread until it has actually been read by you for this challenge. This will give people some help if they are struggling for ideas, but only once another participant has read the book (otherwise I fear there will be countless title / author ideas thrown around in the next month and a half prior to the challenge starting, which will consume the thread). This can be done by 'ticking' your countries off, and keeping everyone up to date with your progress on the challenge.
Another 'rule' is that books CANNOT be offered up to nor asked of other participants in the thread, however they CAN be sent as surprise RABCKs should the owner of the book so wish.
And last but not least....THIS IS NOT A RACE, NOR A COMPETITION !!!
So who's with me??!!
