so I can get an actual number (or close to it) of books that were released today. Please do this before you start posting your catches.

I brought home 41 books remaining on the tables at festival's end.

Thank you.

It was such a fun day!

Thank you all for your help today - the books you brought, your interaction with visitors, your marketing, and your help with set-up and clean-up.

A HUGE thank you to 6of8 for hosting us for a delicious build-your-own taco/burrito dinner tonight. It was a delicious end to the day.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again at the Gaithersburg Book Fair.

I'm sure others have already had catches. It's just that they have not yet been noted here.

The sidebar is showing quite a few catches from Nan1234. Possibly they are not sending out emails because she (presumably Nan is a she) has set them for future release instead -- donating them to prisoners.

Let me know if anyone gets a catch, otherwise we will "appropriate" them by looking on Nan1234's shelf. -- from the ones showing presently on the recently caught 100 page, 25 caught by Nan1234.

Is there any glitch to releasing our registered books in prisons?

I have a friend in prison, and I could not send him any labelled books or books with any kind of writing in them.

I spoke to someone yesterday who was taking a registered book of mine to a prison here in Maryland, and I said that should not be a problem.

I assured her that I don't give out any private names, we all go by screen names, (although any prisoner could track me personally to my Little Free LIbrary #7720). That does not worry me. I happily would give more of my books to prisons.

I noticed you say *book bags* that you bring. Do people just pick up bags or do you distribute the books from them randomly around the park for people to find *in the wild*?

When we have our event in late September (called Word on the Street), we line a ton of books up on benches and tops of walls, all close together, then we step back and watch as people strolling by stop, look, and pick up books. Of course, getting journal entries later is always hit and miss but it does occasionally happen!

I just put my books in grocery bags to bring them to the festival because boxes of bags are too heavy for me to carry. I take the books out of the bags and place them on tables for people to choose the ones they want...just like at any other Bookcrossing book buffet.

I no longer do releases in really wild places (park benches, store windows, etc.) because I get too many donations from neighbors for my Little Free Library. I'm not sure how they would feel about me randomly distributing their books in unprotected places so I no longer do that. I miss it, though! :D

That sure sounds like fun! What date is your September event?

It's always the last Sunday in September and in all the years I've been going, it's never been rained out! Once, I brought an umbrella because it was in the forecast but other than a few sprinkles, it was fine!

I think that weekend coincides with the National Book Festival here in DC and another one in Baltimore.

I'm not sure how many of the catches you have counted (other than the 5 specified by ResQgeek) were by Nan1234. I will say that she caught a total of 25 of our books and re-released them to prisons. Because of the release notes she made, I never got official catch notifications and I am sure many others didn't either.

Just saying that makes for a higher number of total catches -- indeed, she caught more than the rest of the known catches combined.

She caught one of mine. I'll add another 20 to our caught list.

I brought 19 books, brought home 2 , had 1 wild catch by Nann1234.

Very cool

It looks like this person joined BC after picking up one of our books at Kensington in 2013, so she is a repeat attendee, which is cool.
