Holocaust Memorial Day is about commemorating and continuing to learn from the events of the Holocaust.

HMD is marked each year on 27 January – the anniversary of the date of the liberation of Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Your mission, Bookcrosser, if you choose to accept it, is to release a book with a connection to the Holocaust in memory of those who died.

The Jewish Bride, released at the Holocaust Memorial in Athens :

'I want to go on living even after my death! And that’s why I am so grateful to God for having given me this gift, which I can use to develop myself and to express all that’s in me. When I write I can shake off all my cares; my sorrow disappears; my spirits are revived.'
- Anne Frank, written in her diary, 5 April 1944

Books are such a powerful tool for showing just how terrible the Holocaust was and what that was like for those who suffered.
