Complete Thread
I have a nice stash of science & technology books ready to enlighten others! I thought I’d see if there is any interest in a (Nonfiction) Science & Technology Bookbox.

If at least 3 people sign up, I’d like to get it started around the middle/end of June. Plenty of time to read up! There should be around 15-20 books.

What can be included: Anything nonfiction science or technology related. Such as nonfiction books and Autobiographies/Memoirs/Biographies written by/of scientists, engineers, inventors, etc., case studies, thoughts on or experiential type books about life/work/etc. in the science or technology fields. If you’re not sure if a book fits the theme, please feel free to ask. (I hope that makes sense!?)

This includes anything in the hard sciences and the soft sciences!

I do ask that you DO NOT INCLUDE any of the following:

Bookbox rules:

1. The box has landed:
Please post here when you receive the box.
2. Document your findings:
Journal books that you take out and put in. Also, list on this thread what you picked and what you put in the box as it is fun for everyone to see how the books in the box change as it makes its journey and for others to discover new gems to add to their wishlists!
3. Remember Newton's Third Law:
Replace books with an equal amount of books that you have taken out. (There’s some flexibility here.)
4. Scientists should have a whimsical side:
There's always room for humorous books about science and technology. If you've got them, we'd love to read them!
4. Avoid Black Holes:
Please pass the box on within 2 weeks. If, for some reason, you are having difficulty sending out in this time frame, send me a PM or let us know on this thread.
5. And as always, have fun!

1. GoryDetails
2. Azuki
3. CanticleLost
4. adrienne10 (near the end)
..Back to Spatial

Thanks for the invite, Spatial. We may be moving homes within the next 2 months, and I'm probably going to pack up all my books pretty soon as moving does not leave a lot of time for reading. I think I should opt-out of this bookbox, though I have a couple books I could put into the bookbox. I can leave those at work, unpacked. Since you say it's not starting until mid-to-end of June, I'll put my hat in but you may want to list me towards the bottom of the list.

Thanks for joining!

I can play! I have some science-y books that don't fit the Biographies of Things box and would be glad to use them for this one.

You are added!

...The box can include both the soft and hard sciences! I've edited the original post to include both.

If you're unsure of the difference between the soft and hard sciences, here's a handy link to get you started:

I have some set aside for the generic non fic bookbox but I can always save them for this one instead.
Thanks for starting this box to add some variety to the BC world!

Yay! We have 3 so the box is definitely a go!

Not to worry! Take your time! adrienne10 is not in a hurry to receive the box since she is in the process of moving and I'm not in a hurry either. Have fun reading and hope you find some books that interest you in the box!

The box arrived safely on this rainy day. As per request I won't rush to move it along - but I still hope to manage it within a couple of weeks!

Just finished packing a bookbox to be mailed out, there are two bookboxes at my place now. And I just got pm that the manga box is heading to me.
Gosh, are the boxes planning a convention at my place?

OK, I've made my choices, and the box will be on its way to azuki on Monday. [Update: mailed as planned; tracking # 9549012103489189246045 .] My selections and replacements follow; stop reading if you'd rather be surprised!

box is here!!
I am 30 pages from finishing a book I plan to put it, so it's quite perfect. Will make my selection next week on my day off.
Will send a pm to adrienne10 to see when she can get the box.

She is ready for the box.
However, I want to read a couple more to put in the box. The ones I have, on second thought, are so common I think most people have read them already, and I do have a few others I've set aside for this box.
I should be able to mail this out after a week or two.

No hurry. Thanks for the update!

I'll join!

I get it, Azuki-- The boxes and books had started to all come at once and have their party at my place, and I'm finally clearing some space! I happen to also loooove science!

I messaged Azuki to see about whether sent the box yet or if will send to you first since you’re both in FL. I’ll update the shipping order with your name once I know.
Thanks for joining!

Hi hi!
Sorry I have not been checking emails and BC for the last week... Got dragged into GISH scavenger hunt and doing some crazy things like felting a Chewbecca out of dog hair, craving an avocado seed and making a nude painting out of noodles...

Yes, for better or worse, I still have the box. I will be happy to mail it to CanticleLost, I have her address, as it seems like we have been mailing boxes to each other every month.

I will be off on Wed and THur so I will likely get the box ready by then.

The box has picked up residence here in Clearwater, but it will be ready to go, shortly.

I chose:

-Evil: The Science Behind Humanity’s Dark Side
-Thinking, Fast and Slow

I replaced with:

-The Living Sea
-Tesla: Man Out of Time

I want to thank everyone for being so kind and patient with me as I go through a hard time in my life. In all my years on BookCrossing, I've never stalled anything, let alone so many things-- I am deeply sorry to those involved, and once again, extremely thankful for your kindness, and especially those who have helped me get back into the swing of things (Spatial for helping when things were just too much for me, and Emmejo for the kind card you sent to check in on me. I cried so much when I read it). I hope that in the future, when I am ready to participate in rings, rays, and boxes again, that my trustworthiness can be restored. In the coming weeks, I am going to be working on getting everyone their books/boxes back on track. Thank you all so much. This site has been an important feature in my life for nearly 15 years (since I was 15 years old!) -- Thank you all.

to adrienne10!

Thanks to everyone for participating! Only 3 of the original books came back which is pretty good considering we had a small number of people participating!

I will work on getting them journaled and I'll post a list on here in case anyone is interested in seeing what arrived also for anyone to check if any of their books didn't get journaled so we can see what happened to them. :) I'll post back when I have them journaled. Might take a day or 2.
